Keith Ainsworth

Keith Ainsworth, a steadfast pillar of his community and a loving family man, was called to his eternal home on Feb. 8, 2026.

Born on Jan. 31, 1940, in the heart of La Porte, Keith was a lifelong resident of the town he adored.

He was proceeded by his parents, Albert and Elizabeth (Ryden) Ainsworth; had a cherished life together of 54 years with Nancy (Kramer) Ainsworth, whom he married Feb. 9, 1983; and a guiding light to his children, Doug, Joanna and Blayne (Jimmy), as well as his sister, Karen. Keith's legacy continues through his loving grandchildren, Emily, Keith, Britne, Justin and Melissa; and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Everest and McKinley, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

Keith's faith was the cornerstone of his existence. A dedicated member of Bethany Lutheran Church, he served the Lord with unwavering commitment, acting as an usher and actively participating in various church activities. His service to his country was also a defining aspect of his life, having honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.

Professionally, Keith was a respected construction millwright, a career that showcased his skill, dedication and work ethic. He took immense pride in his union involvement and was honored to serve as a union steward, advocating for the rights and well-being of his fellow workers.

Keith's interests painted the picture of a man who embraced life with vigor and passion. An ardent fan of IU basketball, he held legendary coach Bobby Knight in high esteem. Keith's adventurous spirit was evident in his accomplishments as a skydiver, a pursuit that showcased his love for the thrill and freedom of the skies.

Nature was Keith's refuge and source of peace. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, reveling in the serenity and beauty of the outdoors. His green thumb was evident in the meticulous care he took of his Zinnias and the joy he found in watching birds. Keith's appreciation for nature's majesty was complemented by his love for Hawaii, a paradise he was fortunate to visit four times.

Keith Ainsworth lived a life marked by faith, love and service. His presence was a beacon of strength and kindness that touched everyone he met. As he enters the Kingdom of Heaven, his memory and the example he set will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones and all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 102 G St., La Porte, IN 46350, with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. A visitation and viewing will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the Church. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery in La Porte.
