Lisa Ann Schwanke, born on July 28, 1964, in Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the age of 60, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lisa was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, known for her compassion, warmth and gentle spirit. She touched the lives of many with her kind heart, quiet strength and unwavering care for those around her.
A proud graduate of Michigan City Elston High School, Lisa carried the values of integrity, kindness and dedication with her throughout her life.
At the time of her passing, she was employed at Hitachi/Sullair Corporation, where she was respected for her commitment, professionalism and strong work ethic.
After her long workdays, Lisa found joy in relaxing and spending time with friends at the private social clubs she was a member of.
Socializing and sharing laughter in those familiar, welcoming spaces brought her comfort and connection – two things she gave freely to others throughout her life.
Lisa is survived by her loving mother, Alyce Schwanke; her brother, Michael Schwanke, and his wife, Jacqueline Schwanke; her niece, Katlynn Sales, and her husband, Trevor Sales; and her nephew, Nathan Schwanke.
She is also survived by her great-nieces, Cru Sales and Margaux Sales; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Schwanke; and her grandparents, Betty Schwanke, Helen Van Gilder and James Van Gilder.
Lisa will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, calming presence, and the way she made others feel truly seen and valued. Her gentle nature and quiet strength were gifts to those who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts and memories of her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Moose Club in Michigan City, Indiana, in honor of what would have been her 61st birthday. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Lisa's life and legacy. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements

I worked with Lisa at Beaker's in the early 80s. She was a hard worker that was fun to work with. The love and laughter will be with me always. A sweet person, gone too soon!
Keep watch over us my friend...
