Roberta Helen Albers, 74, of Westville passed away peacefully at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on March 3, 1951, in Clinton, Wisconsin, to Robert Henry and Frances Grace (Rogers) Hastings.
On Sept. 23, 1968, in Chesterton, she married Leonard Albers, who survives.
For 57 years, she and her husband enjoyed raising their two sons, Bradley and Craig, attending their sporting events, traveling, playing cards and making many lasting memories. Roberta adored and cherished her children and grandchildren, often reading books, telling stories and making crafts which left a lasting impact on their lives. She loved her family and they in turn greatly loved her. Roberta will truly be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Roberta was a highly creative person who was a gifted seamstress, knitter and crafter, pouring her heart into everything she made. She worked as an English teacher at Westville Middle School where she dedicated 45 years to her students, as well as coaching. Roberta was highly loved by her students, who usually said Roberta was their favorite teacher.
She is also survived by her two children, Bradley and Craig (Pam) Albers; sister, Marian (Gregory) McCuen; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Donna) Albers. She was the treasured Grammy of, Samantha (Alex) Henn, Nathan Albers, Nina (Tyler) Heninger, Jackson (Haley) Newenhouse, Cade Albers and Nicole (Alan) Baum; and Great-Grammy to Nayden Thornton, Teagan Heninger, Casen Heninger, Dayton Henn, Lettie Henn, Nala Baum and Delaney Newenhouse. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Katherine.
Cremation will take place as well as a private family gathering. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100, is caring for the arrangements.
