Beloved brother in Christ, Stephen "Steve" Wesley Hand, 40, of La Porte, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 1, 2023.
Steve was born on Aug. 3, 1983, to Stephen and Beverly (Corey) Hand.
On Sept. 1, 2007, he married Alliegra Peting, who survives. Also surviving are his son, David; parents; sister, Amy (Mark) Povlock; niece, Shania Povlock; nephew, Luke Povlock; great-nephew, Bryson Povlock; as well as a multitude of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his niece, MaKenna; grandparents; aunts; uncles; and other loving family members.
Steve was a devoted Christian man who loved the Lord and held fast to his convictions. He co-led a home group, taught children's church, played bass guitar on the worship team and did church IT.
Steve loved his wife and son with all of his heart. He was a devoted husband and father to his two favorite people in the world.
Steve was a very thoughtful and honest man. He had a gift of making everyone laugh. He cherished fond times with family and friends. He loved playing, watching and talking sports, especially about the Cubs and Colts. He treasured time spent playing Mario Kart with his son. He enjoyed playing games, especially strategy board games. He loved watching "The Office," WWE and "The Golden Girls." Steve was fond of childhood nostalgia, especially the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was passionate and all-in with everything he did. He lovingly was particular about things and a stickler about the rules.
He was the network and systems administrator at New Prairie United School Corporation; he worked there for 17 years. He loved making a difference in the students' lives through his work.
Steve was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at La Porte Assembly of God beginning at 12 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Jeffrey Starkey officiating. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.
In honor and celebration of Steve, please wear Chicago Cubs or Indianapolis Colts attire. Out of the abundant love that Steve had for his wife and son, the family requests that those attending wear a mask and those who are ill not attend.
