Steven "Steve" Howard Wedow, 64, of La Porte passed away unexpectedly at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, in his home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1957, in La Porte, Indiana, to Ralph Howard and Betty Louise (Franks) Wedow.
Steve graduated in 1976 from La Porte High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Management from Purdue University. A lifetime foundryman, he started his career at Teledyne working with his father. He retired as a manager in 2012 from Sampco, South Bend. Steve was a sports enthusiast, being an avid fan of Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and enjoyed Purdue football and basketball. He loved all things Purdue, close friends and his softball crew.
Surviving are his sister, Beth (Jay) Brackemyre of Minneapolis, Minnesota; niece and nephews, Carl and Joel Brackemyre of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jamie (Chris) Schenkel of Carmel, Indiana, and Greg Wedow of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-niece and -nephew, Harper and Brody Schenkel; sister-in-law, Lorraine Wedow of La Porte; and many friends.
Preceding in death were his parents; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Edith Wedow; and one brother, Mark Wedow.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100. A private burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
