C. Frank Kern obituary, Lansing, MI

C. Kern Obituary

C. Frank Kern Lansing Age 77, passed away January 30, 2010, at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. He was born December 10, 1932, in Belding, MI, and married Darlene Lavonne Selleck on October 25, 1952. Frank retired from being an electrician at General Motors. He enjoyed many home projects, extensive travel, and could fix anything! Most of all, he enjoyed his loving family. He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Darlene; 4 children, Daniel (Shirley) Kern, Rosemary (Thomas) Kern Hamill, Kevin (Mary) Kern, Jeffrey (Cindy) Kern; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Janette) Kern, Aaron (Jamie) Kern, Jennifer (Eric) Hochwald, Melissa (Mark) VanTil, Jessica (Jason) McCarthy, Keegan (Dustin) Carroll; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Chantre and Rosalie (Ron) Hansen; brothers-in-law, Frank, Brian and Jon (Betty) Selleck. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Richard; infant sister, Shirley; and sister-in-law, Virginia Selleck. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Woodard Lake Cemetery near Ionia at 3:00 p.m. Because of the wonderful care received at Sparrow Specialty Hospital and Hospice House, Frank and his family very much appreciate your contribution to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, P.O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909 in memory of C. Frank Kern.

I shall miss Frank's kind and gentle presence at the mailbox as I deliver my route. Often I would see him working in the garage and he was always ready with a smile and a wave. A nicer person is seldom met.
