I just discovered the passing of Dennis.
I enjoyed seeing him and his father on a weekly basis. They would come in together for Chicken Ala King. Always with a smile and a kind word. I am proud to have belonged to the same lodge with his father. The were very good men. They will be missed.

I just recently heard of Denniss passing and wish to give my condolences. I was not surprised to hear of his qualities. I graduated a year after Dennis and we rode the school bus together in our youth. He was never pretentious and always friendly with fellow students. Although we went our separate ways I always wished I had contacted him to tell him how his kindness meant to me and others that struggled with certain difficulties of being an under class men. We needed more kind souls like his in this world. Thank you for always being kind.

Always loved to visit with Denny, and was glad to see him when he came back to the farm to be with Pat and Judy. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

My heart is sadden by the passing of Denny. I couldn't believe it when I saw the obit in the paper this morning. I met Denny when I was in high scholl, in fact I went with him to his junior prom where he sang during the breaks of the band. I loved to hear him sing. Such talent. A number of years ago I heard he was singing in California. I called his mom and got his address. He sent me one of his C.D's. I will forever cherish it. I wish there was a service so I could come to pay my respect. He was such a wonderful soul. As I attend mu church service this morning I will pray that God will give all of you comfort. The pain that loosing a loved one brings can be unbearable. The world was blessed for having Denny in it. As a nurse I do hope that Denny wasn't suffering with a terrible illness. I will always be grateful for having the chance to know him. May God bless all of you. Trudy Davey ( Valentine)

Long-time SJ Sharks fans out there will always remember Dennis Leach. He has a special place in the teams history. He was a regular and very popular singer of the national anthem and also known for rousing the crowd with the Russian folk song "Kalinka." Im very sorry to learn of his passing. I will always remember him as having a quick wit and smile for everyone. A Very gracious and an an easy going guy. Dennis was a good soul.
And that voice ... Amazing!
Dennis called me some time ago out of the blue. (Left a voice mail) Id try several times to call him back and always got voice mail box that was always full - I still have the note on my desk to call Dennis with his number. Im So sorry I never was able to reconnect with him.
I was saddened to run across news of his passing on Twitter about 15 minutes ago. Rest in Peace Dennis. (I know your fellow souls in heaven would love to have you belt out Kalinka for them)

Denny was a great guy and I remember him well from school. He was in most if not all of our schools musicals. Great voice and an all round great guy. I was able to connect with him on classmates.com and he sent me a copy of his opera cd and it was awesome. May he rest in peace and know he was loved/ cared for by many people.

I've known you since our days in the church choir when we were very young teenagers. I have to admit, I had a HUGE crush on you. We then reacquainted as seasoned adults. You became my best friend and the keeper of my heart. You blessed my life and I am so grateful for the years we had together. I saw the peace on your face the moment you passed and know you are with God. I will love you always.

Mike and Joe,
I just heard of Denny's passing. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad I got to talk with him and you boys at your dad's funeral. It's been so many years since high school. The complex that I currently live in has another Dennis Leach that used to sell products to DeCamp's and knew your dad. He actually was the one that informed me today. When I met him a year ago he said he used to get phone calls wanting him to sing. I have Denny's CD "Stylewise" from 2001 - maybe his first one? that my parents got from your parents. I'll cherish it.
Again I'm very sorry.

Denny was loved by Gordon and Teresa Ancrile. He was such a wonderful singer, but was always complimenting me (Gordon) on my voice. I am one of his true brothers. We all acted on stage together in Jackson and his talents were a major reason we were successful. We sat and talked for hours over the last couple years and I know where he is now. Heaven

Dennis was our neighbor, and one that we had the opportunity to become good friends with as he lived right across the alley from us in South SanFrancisco. He was a wonderful person and a great singer. We saw him at the Berkeley Opera singing the part of Figaro. Because of Dennis we got to go to Bracebridge Christmas Pagent in Yosemite, and hear him sing there. Dennis was always a sweet and funny friend, and we miss him very much.

Denny was a classmate of mine from NW high school. He had a great voice. He was a true christian who always tried to help anyone in need. He was humble and had a great laugh. His jokes were sometimes on the corny side but they made you laugh. I am sorry Suzie we never met. You have my deepest sympathy and I will be praying for your comfort and peace. He will be missed but know he is at peace singing with the angels.

I knew Dennis from his work at the San Jose Sharks, where I was a cameraman. My greatest remembrance of Dennis is when he would appear next to the organ in Section 109, hitch up his leg on the railing, and lead the crowd in a stirring rendition of Kalinka. He was a fine gentleman and an excellent singer. May the Lord give comfort to his family and friends!

I got to know Dennis when he was the anthem singer at Sharks games in the early '90s and I was writing a "Fan in the Stands" column for the Mercury News. Dennis performed the "Star-Spangled Banner" perfectly -- a beautiful voice, a nice pace and respect for both the anthem and the fact people ultimately were there for a hockey game. He became an even more special presence when the Sharks featured two former Soviet stars, Igor Larionov and Sergei Makarov, and Dennis learned the Russian folk song "Kalinka" in its original language. He'd perform the song once each game and the crowd, as well as the players, loved it. It's probably been 20 years since Dennis left to go back home to Michigan, but I'm comfortable saying nobody has met the high standard he set. Not intended as a dig at every other anthem singer. They're fine. But Dennis owned that role here.

We knew Dennis when he resided in San Bruno, CA. He was kind, fun loving, genuine, humble & personable.....a great guy! We attended a Sharks Hockey game with him in San Jose where we were able to enjoy Dennis sing the National Anthem & what a fine performance! He had a beautiful gifted voice and spirit. We are so sorry so sad to hear of Dennis' untimely passing but know we will be reunited in God's Heavenly Kingdom. Dennis got to go home to be his Father before Christmas...what a wonderful gift to be in God's Presence! Praying for peace, strength & comfort for loved ones in the loss of your beloved Dennis.

Denny was a good man and that voice. We listened to him when he performed at various places in Jackson and never tired of it. The "good man" part came from the way he cared for Pat and Judy in their declining years. We'll miss him.

Sorry for your loss. I have known Denny since childhood. My mother was his teacher in school. My father worked with Denny's dad Pat. Denny was a person of multi talents. I enjoyed hearing him sing. I recently saw him at a funeral for a mutual friend and we had a really wonderful talk. Rest In Peace Dennis. My thoughts are with you Susie.

Denny showed up with his guitar to sing a medley of hymns to my mother during the last weeks of her struggle with cancer. It meant so much that he did that for her and her face shown with joy as she listened to a little heaven on earth. He had a big beautiful voice and an even bigger heart. You'll be missed but I know you are at peace in His glorious presence Denny. My sympathies to all his friends and family.

I am going to miss those semi yearly phone calls and the jokes about "A Boy Named Sue". I met Denny while he was in high school. We were in a band together in 1969-70, and remained friends. When he moved back to Michigan, he would stop by or call a few times a year just to keep in touch. Rest in Peace and sing with the angels Denny. Will miss your smile and gentle character.

I never saw Denny again after maybe 2 years out of high school, but there was no doubt in my mind that he was a compassionate, loving, Christian individual.

I knew Dennis Leach from a distance - as far as he stood on the ice at the Cow Palace and San Jose Arena, up to my seat - at San Jose Sharks hockey games in the 1990s. He gave one of the best renditions of our national anthem - always stirring, never overblown. And he did it without the flourishes that often carry The Star Spangled Banner far off its shelf life at most sporting events, these days; meaning, he treated the anthem with the respect it deserved.
One of his classic anthems actually wasn't The Star Spangled Banner. Whenever the Montreal Canadiens and Quebec Nordiques came to town to play the Sharks, he would sing "O Canada" - in exquisite French!
I am privileged to own a copy of Dennis' CD album "Stylewise" - songs very dear to his heart and musical stylings - signed by the artist himself.
I was sad to not hear him at games anymore (was hoping the Sharks would bring him back for an encore during their Stanley Cup Final run in 2016, and very disappointed they didn't offer it to him) - and even sadder now that his magnificent voice has been stilled, forever. My deepest condolences go out to Dennis' family.

To all of those who cared and loved Dennis. My wife and I were so sorry to hear that Dennis has passed. While he lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, I met Dennis in 1989 and we became very fast friends. I invited him to play first base on our softball team and he invited me to watch him sing at local opera company presentations and at sporting events singing the National Anthem, most notably for the San Jose Sharks on a semi-regular basis. While I was on vacation in Pittsburgh 1991, he and his Mom and Dad invited me to come to Michigan and stay at their farm for a few days. During that stay he sang the National Anthem at the old Tiger Stadium for a game against Baltimore. A big thrill for the two of us was we had the chance to meet and chat with Ernie Harwell in the radio booth prior to the game. Being the gifted baritone that he was, he gladly accepted our request to sing at our wedding and reception back in 1996. Rest in Peace old friend as you are once again reunited with your Mom and Dad. Peter B.
