Dennis Rodeman Obituary

Dennis Eber Rodeman Owosso Dennis Eber Rodeman, 35, of Owosso, Michigan passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015. He was born January 27, 1980 in Charlotte, Michigan to Max Dennis and Tonya Jean (Hester) Rodeman. Dennis was a distinguished Veteran, serving with the United States Marine Corps. He was a well respected and dedicated Firefighter and EMT. He began his career as a volunteer Firefighter with the Vermontville Fire Department and for the last 7 years has dedicated his service to the City of Lansing Fire Department. Dennis had a passion for the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing or shooting his rifles. On Saturdays starting in late August he could be found sitting on the couch (or in a brown chair) watching his favorite college football team, the Michigan Wolverines. Dennis had a great sense of humor, often with a touch of sarcasm. He always knew how to make someone laugh and smile; he truly could light up a room. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, no matter what the situation. But above all, Dennis was a devoted and noble family man and friend, with a profound love for children. He was so excited and thrilled to become a new father. He cherished his family, especially his new wife Kate, and his many friends. He will be dearly missed by so many. He was preceded in death by his step-grandfather, Emil "Blackie" Haebert; grandfather, Gustavius Rodeman; grandmother, Edith Dolby; uncle, Stanley Vansplintern; and cousin, Trent Craven. Surviving to cherish his memory are his parents; wife, Katherine (Demesa) Rodeman; in laws, Camilo, Bernadette and Kamille Demesa; sisters, Kimberly Lawhead and Kelly (Danny) Flory; and his favorite pet dogs, Oliver, Emma and Weasel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Jack Breslin Student Event Center, East Lansing, Michigan where guests will be welcomed beginning at 8:45am. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI. Those desiring may make contributions in honor of Dennis to the Dennis Rodeman Memorial Fund, c/o MSUFCU, PO Box 1208, East Lansing, MI 48826 (1-800-678-4968); gofundme.com/lansinghero, or Lansing Firefighters Local 421, 4195 S. Washington, Ste. 305, Lansing, MI, 48933. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. There are no words. No words of comfort for those grieving. No words of support strong enough to lighten the heaviness of hearts. No words to explain the loss the person taken from this world. No words. Only silent prayers that he will stay with us in our hearts our memories our actions for as long as we need. My heart is with his family blood and bond.

Keeping you, your wife, unborn baby, family, friends and the rest of the people who have known you in my prayers. I still remember your goofy smile and how you always kept everyone smiling. Trying to cling to the happy memories we shared growing up along to overcome the pain of losing you way too soon. Among the beautiful pictures being posted, the one of you dressed up as a cheerleader for a powder puff game made me laugh.

You truly are an angel now. Fly high my friend.
