George "Butch" A. Blais Jr.

Lyons - George A. Blais Jr. "Butch", 62, of Lyons, MI, passed away September 12, 2018 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born December 5, 1955 in Detroit, MI, son of George and Shirley (Sipka) Blais Sr. Butch was retired from Meijer Warehouse, an avid motorcyclist; won many championships over the years racing motor cross; enjoyed being part of all types of racing events, loved snowmobiling, trail riding, detailing his vehicles, biking, spending time with his wife, friends, and especially spending time with his grand and great grandchildren. Butch Blais lived his life to the fullest and took his wife, family and friends along for the ride. Thank you and we will miss you. (My Love)

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sheila, stepdaughter Stacie (Aaron) Straw, grandchildren, Montanna (Robby Risher) Straw and Liana Straw, great grandchildren, Garrett and Remington Risher; his mother Shirley Blais; siblings: Jim Blais, Todd (Linda) Blais, Lori (Bill Wilder) Blais, and Holly (Darryl) Brownlee; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until service time. A funeral dinner will immediately follow services at the Grand Ledge Opera House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Butch's grandchildren for their education fund, c/o of Sheila Blais. Online condolences may be shared at www.petersandmurrayfuneralhome.com

The skill I saw Butch display on his motocross bike inspired me to work hard to become a better rider. He could really "haul the mail"!

I had just met Butch this past summmer. He rode with us a couple of times. I could tell he enjoyed life and was he was fun to be around. My thoughts and prayers to his family during this didficult time.
