Kathleen Frances Lloyd of East Lansing, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 21, 2016 at the age of 97. Kathleen was born on March 20, 1919 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Kathleen retired from the East Lansing School System after an enjoyable 25 years sharing her appreciation of the library with the students and broadening their horizons. During Kathleen's long and fulfilling life she was known for her ability to help others less fortunate than her and offer friendship to so many. A lifelong love of art, music, and theatre filled Kathleen's life with a keen appreciation for the diversity of talent that enriches our community.

Having worked with Gil at MSU, I know how special Kay was and that she was the center of his universe. How blessed the Lloyd family has been to have Kay in your lives for all these years.

We were saddened to hear of Kay's passing. Even though we've been back in North Carolina for 8 years, our Lansing friends keep us informed of life there. We have many memories of working with Gil and time spent with he and Kay. Prayers for the family.

I remember Kay fondly from my childhood in East Lansing. She lived a couple doors down from us on Spartan Ave. and was always kind to everyone. She and mom were sun lovers and as early as March, with snow on the edges of the yard, they'd dash to their sun spot and bathe luxuriously, so eager for the spring warmth after a long Michigan winter.

She loved the ladies' bridge games too and all the activities of our busy street, where kids and adults interacted daily in play, classes at MSU, community events & just general neighborliness. We had such fun in those "glory years" on Spartan Ave. and Kay was a big part of that.

God bless Lamont, Barry and the grandkids with your great memories too! Thank you, Kay! RIP.
