Robert K. Hoffman

Robert K. Hoffman Eaton Rapids Life resident of Eaton Rapids died Friday, December 14, 2012 at the age of 65 at a Lansing hospital following complications after surgery. Born October 16, 1947 one of 3 sons born to Kenneth and Mary (Waldron) Hoffman. Bob was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate class of 1965, and also served in the Naval Reserve. He began his career with the City of Eaton Rapids as a full time fire fighter serving more than 20 years with that position. Bob was 2 weeks short of retiring with the city in the Department of Public Works. He was the historian for the Eaton Rapids area not only for the city but also for the local Historical Society. He was a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Amvets, and a member of the Eaton Rapids Congregational Church. Bob was a former instructor for the Michigan Fire Fighters Council and a former EMT. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Rebecca Hoffman. Surviving are his wife of 45 years Jo Hoffman of Eaton Rapids; 3 children, Laurel (Owen) Wilson of Springport, Nathan (Julie) Hoffman of Eaton Rapids and Lance Hoffman of Eaton Rapids; 2 granddaughters, Brittany (Gene) Hoover of Eaton Rapids and Brianna Wilson of Springport; great grandson Ryland Hoover; 2 brothers, Douglas Wade Hoffman of Eaton Rapids and Charles (Marsha) Hoffman of Hampshire, IL.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
