Virginia Egnatuk Obituary

Virginia Diane Egnatuk

East Lansing - Virginia Diane Egnatuk of East Lansing passed away on March 11, 2021 at the age of 85. "Ginny", as her friends called her, was born on August 5, 1935 in Albion, Michigan to Hoyt and Lucille Howell.

She attended Albion College and married the love of her life, Tony Egnatuk, on December 8, 1956. They spent their entire lives in the East Lansing community where her husband, Tony, served as Hannah Middle School's principal for over 30 years. Ginny worked and retired from Michigan State University. She was a member of the University United Methodist Church, Phi Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta and the Hannah Tracy Grant Chapter of the DAR. She proudly held various offices and positions within both organizations. She was a wonderful friend to all who knew her and was never at a loss for words. She had so many funny stories that she loved sharing with anyone she happened to be with.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony Egnatuk; parents, Hoyt and Lucille Howell; and her brother, Charles Howell. Surviving are her son, Kevin and his wife, Donna (DeFrain) and their three children, Ryan and his wife, Katelyn, (VerWoert) and their daughter, Wilhelmina; Brett and his wife, Samantha (Anderson); and Kyleigh, along with numerous nieces and nephews that adored and loved her dearly.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823. The family will be receiving visitors from 12 pm - 1 pm with a memorial service to follow immediately after the visitation.

I did not know "Ginny" personally, but a lot can be said about a person by the way they raise their children and give back to their communities. She gave back to her local community through activity, and leadership roles, in local organizations. As a parent myself, I know that your children are your "Pride and Joy". From what I can see, from knowing her son Kevin, she did an excellent job of being a "Mom" !
My sympathy goes out to the entire family in this time of sorrow. Time will pass and the great memories of days gone by can never be taken away and will help to heal your hearts. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Bob Van Arkel (Brother-in-Law to Joe McCrone)

I am so sorry for your loss. Ginny was a special woman. Working with her was a real pleasure. She had so many funny stories. Even though I haven´t seen her for many years I can still see her smiling face. My thoughts are with all of you, her family that she loved and was so proud of.
