William Chapman Obituary

William "Bill" E. Chapman

Mason

William Edward Chapman passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 71 after a brief but brave battle with lung cancer.  Bill was born on November 9, 1944 in Trenton, Michigan to Vernell and Helen Chapman.

Bill was an auto mechanic and owned Chapman Car Care for over 20 years.  He loved his dog Betsy, DIY projects, home renovations, gardening and fixing "things".  For the past several years he enjoyed traveling the country in his RV with his wife Judy and sharing adventures with his grandchildren.  He was considered an honorary member of the Mason Sycamore Creek Garden Club due to his assistance with many projects.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Brian.  Cherishing his memory are his wife of 51 years, Judith (Judy); daughter, Tami (Paul) Slaats; sons, Scott Chapman, Nicholas (Cherie) Chapman; grandchildren, Hannah, Nicholas, Madison and Noah;  sisters, Patricia (William) Shapton, Rita (Ed) Faiver; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will take place at his home on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon and refreshments.  For directions please email [email protected].

A very special thank you to Dr. Carol Rapson and her staff along with the Sparrow Foundation Home Hospice and Hospice House.  Those wishing may make contributions in Bill's memory to Sparrow Foundation - Hospice, 1210 W. Judy, You may or may not remember me,(how could you forget me & Dean). Have just been inputting names in search and found Bill's Obit. Sorry to hear of loss. I have been finding that most of the people I knew in Mich and worked with here in Chicago are gone. I am on my final days / months myself so I may find him and Dean around Johnson's or some other parking lot sooner than I expected. Best wishes, Doug Rhodes- just located 13 June 2024

It is with great sadness to learn of Bill's passing. Best friends throughout our youth and all the great adventures. Time and the military sent us in different directions for our lives, but the memories remain. Interesting he took up gardening, as did I, maybe more in common than we knew. He was the best of friends and never be forgotten.

Dear Judy and family. It is with sadness that we learned of Bill's passing. Jim and I will always remember Bill as a great person. I have many memories of Bill as a great friend growing up. He was a very close friend of my brother Dennis. My parents were also sadden by this news. So very sorry for your loss of a great guy.
