Hazel Pearl Rudder ascended to Heaven on Sunday, May 30th, 2021, at the age of 81. She was a caring and deeply devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Hazel was born on July 4th, 1939, in Decatur, TX. Sharing her birthday with Independence Day fit her well as she could be described as quite the firecracker. In 1955, she eloped and married the love of her life, Tucker Rudder. During her younger years, she loved to compete in recreational volleyball tournaments and met many lifelong friends while doing so. Hazel enjoyed playing dice and card games, watching sports with a strong preference for the Dallas Cowboys and all things Texas Tech, and helping organize the annual Patterson Family Reunion.
Hazel was a woman of faith and remained actively involved with her church, Vandelia Church of Christ.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Rene' Ford, and Rene's husband, Tommy Ford. She was the proud Nanny of four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Hayley York with husband, Christopher, and son, Max; Rachael Rudder and daughters, Kylee and Kynah; Heather Monkres with husband, Eric, and daughters, Willow and Clover; and Levi Rudder with wife, Jenni, and daughter, Ledgin.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tucker Rudder, and son, Tucker Dale "Skeeter" Rudder.
In lieu of flowers, Hazel requested that memorial contributions be made to the Joe Arrington Cancer Research and Treatment Center, www.covenanthealth.org/covenant-health-foundation/foundation-gifts/, in her memory.
