Jerry Dewayne Pennell

Jerry Dewayne Pennell HARLINGEN-Jerry Dewayne Pennell, 77, passed away on Nov. 20, 2014, in Harlingen, Texas. Jerry was born on Jan. 24, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to Don and Opal Howard Pennell. He served his country as a SP 4 with the U.S. Army and graduated from Texas Tech, where he received an Engineering Degree. Jerry married Betty Lou Pennell, who preceded him in death and then on June 8, 1990, he married Carol Ann Pennell. He was employed by White Sands in New Mexico, Eagle International in Brownsville, Texas, R.C. Kelly, and later Anderson-Bingham. Jerry enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol Pennell of Harlingen; daughter, Kim Pennell (Bill Thompson) of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter, Page Hines (Bart Hines) of Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces and nephews in Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Opal Pennell of Southland, Texas; brothers, Harvey Lewis Pennell of Plainview, Texas, and Donald Harlan Pennell of Lubbock, Texas; and sister, Karen Gale Callaway of Lubbock, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, in Terrace Cemetery in Post, Texas, with Rev. Page Hines officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011.
