Max Steger Obituary

Max B. Steger SAN SABA-Max B. Steger, age 82, was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 29, 2014. He was born Oct. 6, 1932. He married the love of his life, Elodie Steger, nee Gonzales, in July 1961. Max was active in the Masonic Lodge and served as Past Master of San Saba Lodge #612; he was a member of the Shriners, Eastern Star and Scottish Rite. Max dedicated his life to his wife Elodie, his family, community, country and his Savior Jesus Christ. Max, known to many as Max Tax, was a tax consultant in Lubbock, Texas, for many years; along with his wife Elodie, he owned and operated M&M Tax Service prior to moving to San Saba, where they had resided since 1996. Max is survived by his wife, Elodie; two sons, Bryan Steger and his wife Martha, Ben Steger and grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Max's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Father's Day, Sunday, June 15, 2014, at the San Saba Masonic Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in the name of Max B. Steger to the donors' favorite charity of choice.

I will miss you Uncle Max. Love you.

I lived across the street from the Steger's when I was growing up. My fondest memory of Max was the following: Renee, Bryan, and I were having a snowball fight in their driveway. A snowball skimmed across my eye, gently removing my contact. A few weeks later, Max came to our door with a miraculously found contact. He will be missed, but will stay in our hearts.
