On February 22, 1955, Nyla Jean was born to Jimmie and Emma Medlock in Portales, New Mexico. Nyla grew up as a small-town farm girl in Floyd, New Mexico. She graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1973. During this time, she won the Area Lubbock Avalanche Journal Spelling Bee, earning her a trip to Washington D.C. to compete at the National level. This began a lifetime of traveling. Her next step was graduating from Texas Tech with a 4.0 grade average.
She began her career at Lubbock Personnel. During that tenure, she was a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lubbock program. Her next career step was to found and become CEO of Medlock Consulting, specializing in the recruitment of occupational medical professionals. Nyla became a founding partner of Global Medical Director to add to her busy schedule She was honored with the 2019 American College of Occupational and Environmental Presidential Award.
Nyla was most proud of the Harvard University School of Public Health "Nyla Medlock Occupational and Environmental Medicine Fellowship Fund "Award. She loved being a Tony Robbins Global Platinum Partner, experiencing global travels and friendships. Another honor was being inducted as Grand Officer Dame, Royal Family of Danito in Rome, Italy.
While building this amazing career, Nyla experienced and overcame much adversity. She lived a life full of faith, loving like Jesus loves. Nyla did this wholeheartedly with a non-judgmental unconditional deep love. She did not just touch your heart; she reached in and squeezed it as Uncle Dale described! She led many people to the Lord. She BELIEVED- in God, people, and second chances. Her smile lit up the room, and she had an undeniable presence! She is now in the presence of God, dancing on the streets of gold.
Survivors include her sisters, Gayle Reese, and Janet Butler, nieces, Angel (Jay) Green, Crystal (Steven) Cartner, and Jana (John) Soto; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Jimmie and Emma Medlock; brother, Douge Medlock; and brother-in-law, Elvis Reese.

I am a retired Occ Med Doc who knew Nyla through our annual AOHC Conferences. Though she never placed me into a position, her warmth and expertise greatly affected me. I am so lucky to have known her!

Nyla was a true friend to me and my family, always asking about my daughter from her infancy to the last time we were together at the AOHC meeting at Disneyland in 2019. When I had my own health crisis and told Nyla about it she gave me a wonderfully warm hug and prayed for my continued health. Fortunately for me, there was no tumor. If there had been, Nyla would have prayed it away. I truly will miss a wonderful friend and colleague in our field. She was a one-of-a-kind gem of a human being. I know she is gracing heaven with her presence. Steve Levit

Thank you for always being so excited to hear from me. You were always kind. I am forever grateful to you for calling me with a job opportunity and for guidance in successfully negotiating the benefits of the position. I was looking forward to accepting your invitation to accompany you on a Tony Robbins trip. Thanks for looking after us and now looking over us.

Roberto and I spent many wonderful moments with Nyla at Anthony Robbins events. She was always a bright ray of sunshine and the first to welcome new members.
Her enthusiasm was amazing but she was also a brilliant businesswoman. She spent many hours with us brainstorming ways to improve out practice. She will be dearly missed. May her memory be a blessing.
