Dick was a great colleague to me during my Texas Tech faculty years (1983-1997), and he and Sophie actually came to my med school graduation (TTUHSC) in 2000, a wonderful gesture of friendship. I would run into him regularly at the Tech Rec Center, and admired his fitness. A genuine friend with admirable guilelessness, Dick's life was well-lived. Condolences to his family.

It is very sad to learn of Dick's passing. He was a fellow grad student with my husband in Seattle and there is when I met him. We double dated many times; later, Dick and Sophia were friends to our youngest son and his wife when Dixon was working in Lubbock. dick was always kind and never complaining about his own health. I guess I thought he was immortal!
My love to you three children. I will savor my memories and I hope you will, too. Alice Robin

Condolences to all the WIlde family. Dr. Wilde hired me to work for him back in 1969-70. I was a senior at TTU majoring in chemistry. He let me run a $100K infrared spectrophotometer. I was stunned and always grateful for the confidence he had in me and the guidance he provided me as a young scientist. We did publish one paper from the experiments I performed. He was always very encouraging and nurturing. I'll always be indebted to him. I went on to get a PhD in microbiology at TTU, and eventually work at the CDC for 23 years. But it's mentors like Dr. Wilde that made me what I became. I'm very saddened to hear of his passing. I'll never forget him. All of your family should be very proud of Richard. He made a huge contribution to TTU and many, many lives (like mine).
