Sylvia Rivera Obituary

Sylvia Rivera LUBBOCK-Sylvia Rivera, 60, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away at her residence on Nov. 5, 2014. Sylvia was born on April 8, 1954. She enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and friend. Sylvia always supported Lubbock High School. Her family's motto was, Once A Westerner, Always A Westerner. Her presence will be missed, but her legacy will live forever through her family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Pedro; and sister, Sharon. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Paul Rivera; her three sons, Paula, David and Patrick Rivera; two brothers, Fred and Stanley Perez; four sisters, Mary Silva, Janie Olmos, Alice Minjarez, Rose Mary Lozano; grandchildren, Servanah, Isabella, Ellibeth, Luciano, Patrick Jr.; daughters-in-law, Sonia Rivera and Yvonne Gomez; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Peaceful Garden Memorial Park, under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held on Monday, prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary Funeral Home and Chapel.

I have memories of you and Paul when you were dating; I remember the cool car you both had and the awesome music you listened too.
