Vysta Beard Obituary

Vysta LaDelle Beard LUBBOCK-A Memorial Service for Vysta Beard, 85, of Lubbock, will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Church on the Rock, 10503 Slide Road, Lubbock, TX. She died on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the Phoenix House in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 1, 1930, to Drucella and Ernest Ward of Slaton. She married Lindol Beard in Slaton on Sept. 18, 1949. Lindol and Vysta both worked for Santa Fe Railway for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Dru Ann and George Barecky of Lubbock; three sons, Miles and Janis Beard of Hurst, Scott and Kim Beard of Abilene, Larry and Susan Beard of Lubbock; sister, Nelda Merrell of Owasso, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many adopted sons and daughters who have spent countless hours and eaten countless meals at MeMaw's house. Memorials may be made to the Dream Center, 1111 30th St. Lubbock, TX 79411. (806) 793-3336. The family would like to thank the very compassionate and professional staff at the Phoenix House for the way that they loved and cared for our loving mother. Family visitation will be held at Church on the Rock, South Campus in the foyer, Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at 7 p.m.
