ALAN MINTZ M.D. Alan P. Mintz, M.D., cofounder and CEO of Cenegenics Medical Institute, passed away June 3, 2007, as a result of a brain hemorrhage. He was 69 years old. Born in Chicago, Alan was a graduate of the University of Chicago and earned a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Illinois - School of Medicine. He served as a physician in the U.S. Navy, prior to postgraduate training in radiology. Alan was a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and board certified in radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. Appointed chairman of the Department of Radiology for several Chicago-area hospitals, Alan was an adjunct professor for the Center for Cardiovascular Research at Northeastern Illinois University. Gifted with a dynamic vision and commitment to excellence, Alan clearly fulfilled his favorite maxim, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams... Live the life you have imagined" by Henry David Thoreau. Alan cofounded the world's largest radiology management company, Medicon, Inc., and served as the corporation's CEO and president. Fueled by his passion for health and wellness, he pioneered a new medical specialty, age management medicine. His forward thinking inspired the creation of Cenegenics Medical Institute, the largest age management medicine organization in the world, headquartered in Las Vegas. Complementing his outstanding career as a physician and businessman, Alan attained international recognition as a lecturer and published author. Alan also conquered several athletic goals, running numerous marathons, skiing and volunteering his medical skills on the National Ski Patrol as well as serving as a member of the Steinmetz Academy for Wellness and Sports Science Board of Directors. A mentor, innovator and visionary in preventive medicine, Alan inspired many with his brilliant insights and desire to help others live a vital life. He forged new medical frontiers and embraced the spirit of determination. Alan was deeply committed to the Jewish community of Las Vegas and Jewish causes throughout the world. He also was a Chaine Des Rotisseurs Chevalier and a classic car aficionado. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Alan is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Rabbi Yocheved Mintz; sons, Dr. Ari Mintz (Anne Hunting), Steven Mintz (Trish), Jeffery Mintz (Kristy) and Jonathon Mintz (Erin Trowbridge); grandchildren, Netanya, Abigail, Lee, Gabrielle, Rachel, Molly, Sophie, Heidi, Jack and Judah Mintz; step-grandchildren, Justin, Field and William Osler; sisters, Helene Porter and Phyllis Dunaetz; and a large, loving extended family of relatives, colleagues and admirers. In lieu of flowers, the Mintz family requests donations be sent to either the Valley Outreach Synagogue or Mintz Family Foundation for Creative Jewish Education, c/o 2045 Grouse Street, Las Vegas, NV 89134. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, the King David Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane.
