ALBERT SCALLEAT Obituary

ALBERT SCALLEAT Albert Scalleat, of Las Vegas, and formerly of Hazelton, Pennsylvania, and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, passed away quietly October 4, 2017, at the age of 97. Albert was born into a large Italian family in the coal region of Hazleton, Pennsylvania in 1920, the youngest of eight children. He was married to Rose for 73 years and had two boys, Albert and Michael. Albert's passing was the end of an era. A family man of few words, truly old school, fiercely loyal, always there to help when needed. Dinners with extended family, along with the perfect Crown Royal Manhattan were his biggest joys. He loved gambling, too, both as a player and the house! There were many new Cadillac's through the years, typically blue and always spotless. The last survivor of the Scalleat family, Albert was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel, Joseph and Pasquale; sisters, Nellie DeLorenzo, Anna Cameron, Sue Belletiere and Rosella Pense; and grandchild, Alisha Scalleat. Albert is survived by his sons, Albert and Michael; grandchildren, Lori Scalleat, Albert Scariati and Dennis Scalleat; and great-grandchild, Lucas Lazlo Lapour. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Albert Scalleat to Candelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, 8990 Spanish Ridge Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89148.
