Robert Swalwell Obituary

ROBERT SWALWELL Robert N. Swalwell died at the age of 83, in Las Vegas June 16, 2008. He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Topeka, Kan., to Earl and Vivian Swalwell. Bob grew up in Topeka where he worked as a cement mason. He joined the U.S. Navy SeaBees during World War II and the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge March 6, 1946, and April 29, 1952. Robert married his wife, Rita (Allendorf) June 28, 1952. During the early 1960's, he moved to Las Vegas and continued to work as a cement mason. Robert changed careers in the 1970's and eventually owned Nellis Texaco. In 1979, he retired from the gas station business and began working at UNLV in the grounds maintenance department and retired after 15 years of service. Robert is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Rita, of Las Vegas; daughter, Becky (Darrell) of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Robert (Karen), Jennifer, Patrick and Krista; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Austin and Katrina; two brothers, Joe (Francis) of Topeka, and Elmer (Char) of Oklahoma City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, June 20. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 21, both at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.
