SHIRLEY WINSLOW Obituary

SHIRLEY WINSLOW It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Winslow, of Las Vegas, Monday, May 2, 2016, at Mountain View Hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Calais, Maine, the first child of Lewis and Myrtle Clark. She married Harle Oct. 8, 1950 and settled in Las Vegas, where she retired after 27 years as a food service manager for Clark County School District. She was a chartered member of her church and was involved in many charities, such as feeding and knitting for the homeless. She was a prize-winning quilter and a master at sewing. She was known as "Mom" to many, as she had a habit of caring for all. Her love for her family was her strength. Her smile and humor were contagious and will be greatly missed. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Hume; son-in-law, Mike Decker; along with the love of her life, her husband, of 65 years, Harle Winslow. Shirley is survived by her two brothers, Robert (Rita) Clark and Richard (Ruth) Clark; son, Gary (Mary); daughters, Debra (Tim) Fry and Vikki Decker; six grandchildren, Natasha (Devin) Rummelhoff, Stacy (Justin) Cable, Joe (Mindy) Winslow, Derek (Stacey) Decker, Cory (Jen) Fry and Amelia (Joel) Rice; along with 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mountain View Presbyterian Church.

My sister Shirley was not only a mother to her own children but also to her younger brothers and sister. With the death of our father, which required our mother to go back to work, this left Shirley with the job of caring for her three younger siblings (age 3to9).She did all the cooking, cleaning and house work etc, from the time when she was only 12 years old up to the age of 18,at which time she had saved up enough money to buy a one way bus ticket to Las Vegas to marry her high school sweetheart Harle.I now wonder how a young girl could do all this, plus have a life of her own, but with the help of the Lord she managed. Thinking back I wish maybe I should have thanked her more.
RIP my sweet sister.. Love brother Bob
