Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let you and your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to St. Jude´s Children´s Research Hospital to honor and remember Victor A. Anderson US Army Sergeant 1st Class.
We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

At Andersonville our Boy Scout troop was placing flags on graves on Saturday. It really drove home the sense of loss and the reality of war when I was privileged to meet your mother as she visited your grave. I found out how you were a man of honor who cared greatly about this country and had a sense of duty to it. I thank your family for you and pray for them as well as all of the soldiers.

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,700 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Victor, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Billy & all the family,
It has taken me almost 2 years to figure out what to say to you and the rest of the family. And I am still not sure if I know.I know how proud our family was of Victor.Aunt Margaret & Uncle William both were so very proud of him. I know they had a wonderful reunion when he got to heaven.I can just see the hugs exchanged with Jody & his grandparents.I will never forget him.I remember his laugh and his smile and it was contagious. When his granddaddy died my son Collin was about 6 or 7.And he was so amazed at Victor in his uniform. He went up to Victor and ask him a million questions. Victor took the time to answer each of them. And when we got ready to leave Victor called Collin over to him and gave him 2 small medals. Well he keeps them in a lock box. He takes them out and shows them to his friends. As he tells them that Victor was his hero.I believe he was the entire families hero.I think of him often as does the rest of my family.I pray for all of you every night.I know how proud I am to tell people he was my "Lil" cousin. I can only imagine how proud all of you are of him. I know the pain is still there and always will be.Please know that Ray the kids and myself love you all.Rest In Peace Victor. We will love you alway's.

To Vic's Family and friends! We served togeather from 1983-1985 at 1/61st Inf, 5th Infantry Division, Ft Polk, LA. We lived across the hall from each other. We were both 18. Vic, God Bless you! Who would have guessed you would end up being so loved by so many! We beat the bush and ate some of the same dirt, beside each other back then and in Iraq at separate times. We became men in those short years togeather! I have often wondered where you journeyed. I found your picture in Air Force Times yesterday under Faces of the Fallen. You and yours are in my heart this Memorial Day!

I was up late tonight doing some work on the computer and my wife is a big people magazine reader and saw the article on all the great men and women of our country (Mr. Anderson being one of them) that have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. I must admit I broke down and cried when I read the part of how Tyler asked to sing happy birthday to his daddy for his 40th birthday. Being a dad of a 4 year old boy and 2.5 year old girl it just broke my heart. I just wanted to say to the Andersons thank you and to give my deepest condolences and to Tyler I wanted to let him know that even though I never met his dad I consider him a true hero. God Bless you all.

Victor was a great person. He never met a stranger. I first met Victor in 1989. I recently had joined the National Guard in Americus and was sent to Fort Stewart for a weekend drill. I was partnered with Victor in the field. I enjoyed being in the field with Victor and he taught me alot in those three days. I learned that he was a true soldier and he loved what he did. As the years went by, I got to know Victor and he truely cared for others. Victor will always be with us in spirit and his memories will live on. He will be greatly missed by his military and law enforcement family. Live on Brother and watch over us.

Vic, I miss you buddy. I reflect back often to the good times and the bad times on patrol together. It's not the same out here without you. Vic was a great Officer, a natural leader, and a proud and determined soldier. He was also a very proud father and a faithful husband. I wish, that I was just half the father vic was to his children. If I could be granted just one wish in my life, it would be to exchange places with my buddy. So that he could be at home with his family. One cannot stand in harm’s way for the defense of others without a great deal of integrity, discipline, honor, Esprit-De-Corp., loyalty, and love of his country and fellow man.

Dear Anderson Family,
although I did not know Victor personally, We have a bond in that our husbands both served with the 48th BCT, that makes us family. Because of where he went and how he died, it says a lot about him.
He was a patriot, he thought of others more than he thought of himself- enough to give his life for all of us and for what he believed in.
I hope to raise my child, and leave and impression upon those I have contact with, in a way that honors Sgt. 1st Class Victor A. Anderson and all our other soldiers. May we never take for granted what he paid so high a pice for. May we all be a nation worthy of his sacrifice.

To: Mrs. Anderson and your beautiful family, we can not begin to even understand what or how you are feeling, just know that we know, this great man that was your husband and the father of your children paid the ultimate debt to our way of life that so many of us take for granted on a daily basis. Words can never express the gratitude we will owe him and all of you, his family.
Just like Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior he gave his life so that others may live! If there is ever anything that my family or I can do please know that you could call on us. Know that you are in our prayers, as well as all the other families that have lost loved ones and the military men and women we still have in Iraq and other places in the world. Thank you for your loved ones service to our great country. We are truly blessed to be Americans. Thank you Victor!

I had the privelege of having SFC Anderson on my team as his Platoon Sergeant and later as his First Sergeant. He remains by far one of the most technically and tactically proficient soldiers I've ever served with. We didn't always agree. He never hesitated to voice his displeasure with some of my decisions. But he never hesitated to "make it happen" once the decision was final. We've lost one of the best. No doubt. Ellen, your families service to the soldiers of C/2-121 "Commanche's" will never be forgotten. I DO wish I had 100 soldiers just like SFC Anderson. Heck, I'd be proud to find just one.

My heart goes out to your family at this time of sorrow. I am proud to have met Victor, though I only knew him through work. He was a True American Hero who loved and fought for his country.

I have just learned of the death of SFC Victor A. Anderson. As the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution and speaking for our President, George Thurmond and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia, may I most humbly express the condolences of a grateful Society. SFC Anderson, wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!

I had the opportunity to know Victor Anderson, SFC, he was originally assigned to deploy with my company, B CO 2/121st (M) IN, when he was told he couldn't go to Iraq due to his medical condition. He did what it takes to ready himself, and eventually deployed with A CO 2/121st IN. His dedication to the guard should set the example to younger soldiers on what it actually take to be a soldier. He truly followed the Army creed, Put the mission first, he proved that by doing what it takes to deploy with his soldiers and because of it he paid the ultimate sacrifice. He is a credit to the 48th BDE, U.S. Army, and the United States. He will be truly missed. May God bless and keep his family. He died doing the things he loved.

SFC Anderson will be deeply missed. He was proud to be an American but most of all he was proud to serve his country. My husband SGM Recker said "He was One of the BEST. I wish I had a hundred soldiers like him." His Commanche Family in Iraq is also deeply saddened by the loss of SFC Anderson. He was a TRUE HERO. Ellen always have Faith in God and know that He is always with you. Trust in Him. Always hold your head high and be proud of Victor's service to the country that he loved so much. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Anderson I did not know your husband but I can tell he was no shave tail looking for excitment. He must have been a man dedicated to the mission. It is men such as your husband that make me proud that I served many years ago in Viet Nam.
Mrs. Anderson there is nothing that will take away your pain but there is some one who knows how you feel, my friend Jesus. My friend Jesus will be with you and your family through this and all experiences of this life and the life to come. Please call on him often and you never be alone.
P.S. Victor I know you did not go to Iraq to die, you went to liberate and make people free, but you knew the risk and thank you for my freedom. I hope to live a life worthy of your sacrifice. Thank You!!!!
