I found Rev. Patricia Gruits' book unexpectedly after searching for it awhile. I learned so much from "Understanding God"as other young adult students growing in the Lord at Southern Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. The class and book helped me learn and mature in biblical studies. She used her spiritual gifts to reach many young people, and I very thankful . I am 76 years of age and find it still relevant. Which I could find a recent copy because mine has fallen apart. Blessing, peace and comfort to the family of Rev. Beaal Gruits a scholarly minister. Thank God her work was published. She such left a beautiful legacy!

My father, her contemporary, just informed me of her passing, as I live out of state. She was a wonderful teacher - one of the best I have ever heard - and many men and women would agree. After I started volunteering at her publishing/ministry office in Rochester, over 20 years ago, she spoke at my mother's funeral. I had the honor of working with her on editing one of her books. Her occasionally stern exterior covered a woman I found warm, caring, wise, with a deep heart for the Lord. Here is yet another person I look forward to seeing in Heaven.

To all of the family, we were family, it seemed. Countless stories I could recount from first hearing Sister Pat in catechism class to hanging out with her boys through the years on dates with their cousin Joe Pete when we were yet to young to drive. To my Dad going with Pat and Pete to Haiti to help with construction of the first compound, Daddy was an electrician and overall handy guy, he loved them both! I was so touch in the last decade plus, when my Mom was stricken with leukemia and Sister Pat came with Harry to tell mom of her appreciation of mom's faithfulness to the Lord and His people, bringing her the most beautiful dozen red roses!! It would be the last time they would see each other this side of heaven. That is the Sister Pat we all knew and loved because she loved us as Jesus loves us, unconditionally! Thank you all Gruits family for sharing her with your extended family in Christ. That is not always easy, I KNOW! Love and prayers as you travel this hard road, called Morning Street!

Pat, You (compared to my grandaunt) had the greatest life, yet, you led a religious life, the same way my grandaunt would. I'm very happy, when I am sorry you've lost your life, yet your legacy will carry on for years to come.

To your children:Thank you for sharing your Mother, Rev. Dr. Patricia Beall Gruits with the world. Her books are translated in many languages. I was honored to be her student in Catechism, Minister Candidate School & Seminars, and many prayer meetings. "Sister Pat" was an ambassador for Christ Jesus. Mother-
You were the best mother-in-law a young girl of 22 could ever have. You were loving, kind, understanding, and a wonderful inspiration to me. You were a faithful, dedicated and committed follower of Jesus Christ your whole life. You were not only a gift to your family, but you were a gift to the world. I love you and will miss you forever until we meet in Heaven. Patti Ann

I enjoyed hearing Pastor Gruits soft voice speak. When she spoke about GOD, she whispered and grinned like she was sharing the deepest of secrets. She will be deeply missed!

At age 11, I entered into a room full of kids ages 11-18, probably 16 rows deep and 20 chairs per row. I had become a "Catechism" student. This was Sister Pat's final year of teaching at Bethesda Missionary Temple. I believe my mom pulled a few strings to get me in prior to my 12th birthday. This was the beginning of a spiritual love for Sister Pat. Eleven years later, Sister Pat, performed my wedding ceremony. She was a big part of my life and I enjoyed every moment I could spend with her. If she was teaching...I was listening.
Years later, I worked for Sister Pat at Rhema International. For a good part of that time, I worked in Sister Pat's home, which allowed me a new perspective on who this woman was. She was...complicated. She was witty, kind, tough, loyal, trustworthy, forgiving, loving and most of all faithful. Her love for her boys was so special. They each had a unique relationship with her and teased her ALL the time. She was a trooper though and always had her own come backs. She not only loved all the men in her life, but also their wives and their children. Her love was endless and without judgment. She honored each of them for who they were, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I loved this woman and she loved me. She gave so much to me and I so little to her. But that's just who she was, a friend.
