Abbie Phillips Obituary

Abbie Mann Phillips -VIDALIA - Mrs. Abbie Mann Phillips, born February 26, 1908, of 406 Jackson Street, Vidalia, died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at her residence after an extended illness. -The daughter of the late Susie and Alfred Henry Colquitt Mann, a native of Toombs County, living most of her life in Vidalia. She was a a retired school teacher with the Vidalia City School System and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a graduate of Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro. -She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and was a member of the former T. E. L. Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Phillips, a brother, Herman Mann, a sister, Mary McArthur Newton McArthur, and a twin sister, Addie Adams. -Mrs. Phillips is survived by one daughter, DeLaine Henderson and her husband Kermit of Albany; one son, William Phillips and his wife Pat of Vidalia; one grandson, Gordon Phillips of Los Angeles, CA; three granddaughters: Angela Combs and her husband Rusty of Vidalia, Leah Mullins and her husband Dave of Savannah and Lydia Reich and her husband Daniel of Albany; six great-grandchildren: Emily and Claire Combs of Vidalia, Savannah and Sara Mullins of Savannah and Ansley and Drew Reich of Albany; two sisters: Ruth Partin of Lyons and Tiny Threlkheld of Vidalia and several nieces and nephews. -Funeral services for Mrs. Abbie Mann Phillips will be held Monday, February 24 at 2P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Vidalia with Reverend Don Moye officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery. -The family will assemble at the residence of her son, William Phillips, 1305 Barron Street, Vidalia and received friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00P.M. -Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
