Albert Maxwell Obituary

Albert Laurin Maxwell
06/21/1913 - 03/19/2013
DANVILLE, GA- Albert Laurin Maxwell, a lifetime resident of Danville, Georgia, died in Dublin, Georgia on March 19, 2013, slightly over three months shy of becoming a centenarian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Linder Maxwell and Edgar Dawson Maxwell, Sr. and his devoted wife of nearly 73 years, Frances Lamb Maxwell.
Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Danville Baptist Church where he served for 55 years as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Church Treasurer, and song leader. He served on the Danville City Council for 10 years and was City Clerk and Treasurer during that tenure. His position on the Council gave him the opportunity to become instrumental in securing a public water works system for the city.
His experiences as a family provider included operating saw mills for 20 years and serving as a rural mail carrier for 22 years in Danville and 3 years in the Helena, Ga. area, the job from which he retired.
In his spare time and in his retirement years, Mr. Maxwell was an avid fisherman and enjoyed various carpentry projects in his workshop. His lifelong interest in baseball was shown in later years by his serving as manager of a local Little League team.
He is survived by a niece (Susan Maxwell Grantham of Danville); three nephews (Edgar Dawson Maxwell III of Danville; William Franklin Maxwell of Marietta, Ga., and Gerald Cary Wood of Hoschton, Ga.) and a number of cousins.
Reece Funeral Home of Jeffersonville is in charge of arrangements. The family will greet visitors for a pre-burial luncheon at the Danville Baptist Church from 12:00 noon to 1:30PM on March 21. A graveside service will follow at the Danville Cemetery at 2:00PM. Rev. Len Woodard and Elder Franklin Bryant will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions of choice are recommended.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Laurin. We grew up beside he and "Miss Frances" for many years. I have fond memories of those days. May all of your good memories help in the days ahead.
