There are memories that never go away. Such as people, music, and experiences over the years. When we got our own DJ we instantly remembered the name and the voice. I often wondered what inspired the name "King Bee" I am sure it had a meaning to him.
we were happy and spent lots of time listening to the voice, the music, and artist he introduced. He was a gift for our times and we were thankful. Rest in peace "King Bee" Mr. Hamp Swain. God Bless and keep the family always.

As kids , we would come to WIBB in the afternoon and watch KING BEE spin records and entertain guest artists. On many occasions , he would give us the extra promo copies of music by new & upcoming artists. In the latter years Hamp would go on to sell cars and teach night school for adults in the Bibb County area. My parents knew him well !! Hamp always treated people with dignity and respect, and he was responsible for the development of many new artists. Everyone who knew him will surely miss him. Condolences to his family

May he rest in peace !!

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Swain family. As a white boy growing up in middle Georgia, he and WIBB were great influences on my musical tastes. I love the blues, and most of my influence came from WIBB during the day and WLAC at night. At 78, I still travel to blues events, but my heart will always be with the tinny sound of WIBB coming over an AM radio. Rest in Peace, King Bee; I'm certain there's a place for you announcing The Angel Band.
