Howard George Simms, 88, of Macon, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022. The family will have a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Fairhaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon, GA.
Mr. Simms was born on August 22, 1933, in Nashville, GA, to the late Mr. George Washington Simms and Mrs. Emily Laura Adkins Simms. He proudly served his country in both the United States Marines and United States Air Force. Mr. Simms retired from Robins Air Force Base after 30 years of service, where he worked in aircraft training. Later on, he was a truck driver, a professional transporter of grandchildren, and a "Papa Extraordinaire."
Mr. Simms was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Decia Laverne Cook Simms; and was the last survivor of eleven siblings.
Mr. Simms is survived by his only child, Howard Z. Simms (Dee); grandchildren; Grace Simms Martin (Jason) and Zack Simms; several in-laws; and many nieces; nephews; and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations please be made to the Macon Crisis Line and Safe House, 915 Hill Park, Macon, GA, 31201

We are so sorry for your loss. He was such a sweet man. He lived across the street from us. I have 3 little kids and he would always stop and say hey and would also give the kids chocolate candy!! Praying for you all!!

sorry to hear of your loss. Howard will be greatly missed, he was my instructor when I started the a/c apprentice program back in 1976. our thoughts and prayers are with you and family at this time of greaf.
