Dublin, GA- Jasper Collier Bryan, 86, formerly of Peach County, passed away July 15, 2014 in Dublin. Born in Macon County on November 28, 1927, he was the only child and beloved son of the late Inard Newton Bryan and Mary T Browne Bryan. He was a member of the Fort Valley High School Class of '44 and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1949, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. His college years were interrupted by his service at the end of WWII in the US Army. In 1959 he graduated from the Institute of Insurance Marketing at Southern Methodist University.
Following an early career as a farmer, Jasper began an association with State Farm Insurance Companies that lasted for 38 years. During his many years with State Farm Insurance, he advanced from an Agent in Fort Valley to Agency Manager for the Dublin area before being promoted to Agency Director over agencies throughout Eastern Georgia and Western South Carolina. Known for his strong work ethic and honest dealings with his policy holders, he exemplified the State Farm "Good Neighbor" motto.
Jasper was a Southern gentleman who enjoyed a lifelong interest in agriculture, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dublin.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louise Happoldt Bryan of Dublin; children: Randolph (Randy) Happ Bryan and Dawne of Cochran, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Bryan Billue and Dr. David Billue of Guntersville, AL; Grandchildren: Zachary Cleveland Bryan and Brittany of Clarkesville, Joshua Clayton Billue and Stefanie of Nashville, TN, Dr. Katharine Lynn Billue of Akron, OH, Dr. Beau Taylor Bryan and Katharine of Columbia, SC, and Anna Keelin Billue of Nashville, TN; Great-grandchildren: William Collier Bryan, Nathan Solms Bryan, and Thomas Vail Bryan, all of Columbia, SC, and Ava Mae Bryan of Clarkesville.
Services will be held Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Fort Valley, with Rev. Ed McQueen officiating. The family will greet friends an hour before the service. Burial with military honors will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
