Margaret Uhler Obituary

Margaret Anderson Uhler -MILLEDGEVILLE - Margaret Anderson Uhler age 80 passed away Wednesday December 17, 2008. -Funeral Mass will be said at 11 A.M., Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael McWhorter officiating. Burial will be at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery. -Mrs. Uhler was born in Palatka Florida on February 4, 1928. She came to Milledgeville in 1944 to attend Georgia State College for Women, and it was here that she met and married the love of her life, Joseph R. Uhler, who had just returned from military service in World War II. She eventually obtained a Master's Degree from GSCW (now Georgia College and State University) and was an Adjunct Professor of English there for many years. She was a dedicated teacher who always had time for her students and delighted in instilling in them of her love of the English language and Literature. An accomplished storyteller, she was the author of The Floridians, an historical novel based on the lives of her great grandparents. -She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, and Learning in Retirement. She endured her final illness with courage, grace, and constant good humor, surrounded by family and friends. She will be sorely missed. -She is survived by her son, Jim; her son, Steve and daughter-in-law Elaine; her daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Neal Meier and Adair and Drew Wood; grandchildren, Neal Meier III and wife Kristin, Rose Meier Booker and Husband Scott, Marie and Maggie Uhler, and great-grandchildren Ava, Zula, and Clara Booker and Joseph and Grady Meier. -In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950, or Harriet's Closet, 624 MLK Jr. Drive, Milledgeville, GA 31061. -The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., to be follow by a Rosary at 7 P.M. -Visit: www.mooresfuneralhome.com to express tributes. -Moore's Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
