Phyllis Denicke Obituary

Phyllis June Denicke
July 21, 2022
Suwanee, Georgia -
Phyllis June Wade Denicke, 76, went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2022. Phyllis was born June 30, 1946 in Campbellsburg, IN, and was the daughter of Ethel (Neal) and Orra Wade.
Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She took great joy in serving others and made every effort to attend all her grandchildren's sporting events and other momentous occasions. She also enjoyed playing golf and traveling with her beloved husband, Pete, walking, hosting fabulous dinners and spending time with family and friends. She was active in her Church and a member of several Bible studies and small groups. Phyllis will be most remembered for her generosity, service to others, vitality, positive outlook, incredible organizational skills, gracious hospitality and, most notably, her passion and selfless love for her family.
Phyllis grew up on a farm and was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School, where she was a member of 4-H, Band and FHA. She graduated from Indiana University in 1970 and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education from Spaulding College in 1978. She was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Kappa sorority. Throughout her lifetime, Phyllis served as a high school teacher in Indiana and at First Presbyterian Day School, and as an accountant at Hatcher Milling Company, a family-owned business, Travel South, and Ivy Hill Animal Hospital. She also volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader.
On August 19, 2004, Phyllis married Pete Denicke. They lived in Suwanee, GA and spent winters in Florida. She was previously married to Ron Ooley with whom she had a daughter and son, who were her pride and joy.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of nearly 18 years, Pete Denicke; daughter, Kim Evans (Todd) of Alpharetta, GA; son, Kevin Ooley (Lesley), and their children; Cameron, Britton and Campbell of Dallas, TX; grandchildren; Scott Evans (Natalie), and their children; Mason and Emerson of Fort Mill, SC; Kyle Evans of Pinehurst, NC and Kaleigh Evans of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Judy Myers (Jerry) of Campbellsburg, IN; sister-in-law, Glenna Wade of Madison, IN; several adored nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Phyllis will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her father; mother; and her brothers; Ronnie Wade and Jack Wade.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held in the Youth Building at Gwinnett Church on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 1:00PM with a reception immediately following.
The family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Mt. Carmel Christian Church c/o Melissa Keiser, 9976 North White River Road, Campbellsburg, IN 47108.

Thank you so much for your guidance during my high school years. You were my favorite teacher, and enjoyed our talks about baseball. You would be proud to know my typing skills have improved!!

So very shocked and saddened by Phyllis passing. I guess she was still in charge just not the timing that she planned on leaving this earth. Know that we´re thinking and praying for everyone
