Rebecca Anderson Obituary

Rebecca J. Jones Anderson
April 7, 1938 - December 12, 2022
Warner Robins, Georgia - Rebecca J. Jones Anderson passed away at 2:00 a.m. on 12 December 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and a brother. Rebecca is survived by her husband, Frederick; sons, Fred Anderson II (Denise) and Jeffery Anderson (Lynn); daughters, Leslie Mathews and Lara Townsend (Walt); grandchildren, Jennifer Rothenberg (Adam), Rebecca Brown (Chad), Aubrey Anderson, Samantha Hilker (Tommy), Matthew Anderson, Aaron Sewell (Emma) and Thomas Mathews; and six great-grandchildren.
Becky's whole life centered around her family and they always… always came first. She viewed her role as wife and mother the most important thing any woman could ever undertake and she was so good at it. Becky was a devout Catholic loved by all who knew her. As the USO representative at Robins Air Force Base, she touched the lives of those in uniform who were being deployed overseas and the family members left behind.
Becky's last few days on earth were difficult ones. She had fractured her back and was in intense pain. Then other complications set in. Through it all, she had an unflinching will to live on. As Paul tells Timothy in II Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have run the good race, I have kept the faith," and so too, did our Becky. She focused her faith in God so that she was able to endure hard times without hesitation, complaining or quitting. In the end, the valiant efforts of Becky's frail little body to beat the overwhelming odds posed by her maladies were not enough.
It has been said that grief demands an answer, but sometimes there isn't one. This, perhaps, is one of those times. The pain of losing Becky will diminish with time, but the joy of having had her, thankfully never will. And so, as we close the final chapter of the book that was Becky Anderson, we come to the realization that there will be no more phone calls or face to face encounters. We must say goodbye to all that was familiar… all that was comfortable. Becky was a never-ending song in our hearts which covered the whole gamut of our emotions. We may sometimes forget the words, but we will always remember the tune. "You do not grow old as those of us who are left behind grow old; age shall not weary you nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember you."
A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Becky's life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Monsignor Fred Nijem and Deacon Jim Hunt officiating.
