Robert Edwin Davis, Sr. -GORDON, GA - Robert Edwin Davis, Sr., 93, died Wednesday, June 14. 2006. Services will be held in the Gordon First Baptist Church at 3P.M. on Saturday, June 17, 2006. Mr. Davis was born March 23, 1913 to the late Thomas Lanier and Evelyn Dennard Davis and lived 88 years in Gordon, GA. -Mr. Davis was a member of the Gordon Masonic Lodge #240 for over 60 years where he served as Worshipful Master and later served as Grand Master of Tenth District Masons. He was a member of Gordon First Baptist for 82 years and was retired from Maxwell Box Company. -Preceded in death by his wife, Lura Turner Davis, and daughters-in-law, Peggy Greene (Jim) Davis, and Beverly Brown (Bob) Davis, Mr. Davis is survived by his three children, James T. (Paula) Davis, Robert E. Davis, Jr., and Leah Kay (Ed, Jr.) DeFore, and six grandchildren, Melinda D. (Jim) Maddox, Janet D. (Jim) Hardin, Robert E. (Kensee) Davis III, Thomas L. Davis, Matthew W. (Shaye) DeFore, Leah E. DeFore, and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Anna and Austin Maddox, Davis, Ben and Megan Hardin and Leo Camp Davis. -Visitation will be Friday, June 16, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Hart's Mortuary. -The body will be placed in the Gordon First Baptist Church at 2P.M. on Saturday, June 17, 2006. The family will greet friends until the service begins at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Stanley Cemetery with Masonic rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gordon First Baptist Church, Gordon, GA or to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201. -Hart's Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
