W.D. Knowles Obituary

W.D. Knowles -MILAN - W.D. Knowles died September 18 in the Perry Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11A.M. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home and interment will be at Siloam Church Cemetery. -The Rev. Wayne Cobb will officiate. -Mr. Knowles, 87, was the son of the late William Ira (Bud) and Lola Amanda Selph Knowles of Milan and was married to Sue Spires Knowles. -He was a Veteran of World War II, a farmer, and a businessman. He was owner and operator of Milan Tractor Company, Milan Peanut Company, and a member of Three Rivers Cattleman Association. He was a member and served as a Deacon of Siloam Baptist Church. -He was preceded in death by wife, Swillie Heath Knowles; two grandsons, Scott Knowles and Mitchell Knowles; two sisters, Dorothea Hulett, Lorene Summer; one brother, H.B. Knowles. -Survivors include his wife, Sue Knowles of Milan; five children, William (Gloria) Knowles of Milan, Elaine (Ronnie) Lancaster of Milan, Carey (Jane) Knowles of McRae, Randy (Patsy) Knowles of McRae; Faye (Jay) Wells of Buena Vista, GA; thirteen grandchildren, Melanie (Bryant) Sims, Ronda (Clint) Sanders, Becky (Eric) Greene, Mark (Shelley) Knowles, Ginger (BL) Horne, Laura (John) Ryals, Michael (Kerrie) Knowles, Lee (Keri) Lancaster, Bryan Wells, Daniel Knowles, Brandon Knowles, A.J. Wells, Timothy Knowles; fourteen great-grandchildren, Bryanna and Jonah Sims, Janie and Carter Greene, William, Heath and Elizabeth Sanders, Kaitlynn and Dylan Knowles, Nathan Lancaster, Ashlee and Kaylee Knowles, Lydia Horne, Julie Ryals; nieces, nephews. -Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 20 at the funeral home. -Flowers will be accepted or donations may be given to Siloam Baptist Church, P.O. Box 193, Milan, Georgia 31060. -Lowe's Funeral Home of Helena has charge of the arrangements.
