Fidelis Ann "Dellie" Endres
WAUNAKEE - It is with a heavy heart we share the passing of Fidelis Ann "Dellie" Endres.
Dellie was born on November 23, 1927, to Leo and Rose (Wagner) Meier. She grew up on the family farm in Ashton. One of her many chores was ringing the bells each morning for St. Peter's church, which required her to run through the cemetery early in the morning, avoiding the snakes as she ran, and making sure that the ghosts she claimed to see by the altar never took her.
Working and helping people was instilled in her at an early age and was forever a part of her life as she took care of her mom and brother when they came down with Scarlett Fever, took care of her grandchildren, and later in life she took care of Dad for several months in their home until he passed away in 2001.
Dellie met Robert Endres at a dance at Springfield Corners Dance Hall and they were married on May 8, 1951. They had three children, Robert, Jr., Kathy, and Darlene. Dad was a road contractor and Mom was the homemaker who served a warm meal and fresh pie every night. She was known for her great cooking skills including desserts and hearty meals. Her cinnamon rolls, hamburger buns, peanut rolls, birthday cakes, and pies were a favorite of family and friends. She loved holiday gatherings with the family and even when she was 90 years young was still cooking the Thanksgiving feast, making sure to get the turkey in the oven by 4:00 AM.
The name Fidelis means "faithful" and that she was. She was a devoted Catholic who never missed a Sunday Mass either in person or on television. The rosary was her daily prayer and source of comfort in her final days. Mom always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. Fun always found Mom and she would share her stories of her life and we always ended up a hearty laugh.
Living on Sixth Street meant sharing a friendship with the special ladies on that street. They stayed close for all 63 years she lived there. The ladies always got together for a birthday breakfast. COVID changed the gatherings to sharing breakfast at Mom's. We thank these wonderful ladies for bringing joy to Mom during these past years.
She leaves behind her family that loves her, daughters, Kathy (friend, Dale Hauschel ) Endres, Darlene (Tim) Kohn; grandchildren, Robert (Mary) Endres, Rachel (Dean) Ladwig, Ben (Michelle) Kohn, and Mackenzie Kohn; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Grant and Claire Endres, and Leo, Max and Ella Kohn; and sister-in-law, Suzanne (Joseph) Meier. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins whose calls and visits were so appreciated.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert, Jr. (1999); her husband, Robert, Sr. (2001); her parents, Leo and Rose; her brothers and sisters, Leonard (Carrie) Meier, Marilyn (Greg) Acker, Cyril (Margaret) Meier, Joseph Meier, Charlotte (Joe) Dorn, and Fr. LaVerne Meier; her in-laws, Ray (Armella) Endres, Eleanor (Marcel) Schwab, Ann (Ray) Laufenberg, Harold (Laura) Endres, Roman (Louise) Endres, and Doris (Glen) Roudebush.
Mom wanted to always stay at home. Sincere thank you to the following who helped us keep Mom cared for at home: Cousin Shirley Acker, Cornerstone Care including Brendan, Allanah, Kim, Milgo, Matasha, Martina, and Amelia, as well as the wonderful CNAs and nurse Ashley from Agrace Hospice.
Visitation for Fidelis will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee, WI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with burial immediately following in St. John's Cemetery.
Her heart was one made of gold. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Mom, you left a legacy of hard work, faith, laughter, and most of all, love. We will miss you tremendously.
"Love you'se all."

I lived next door to Dellie for 13 years. When my husband passed in 2015, I received some of those wonderful cinnamon rolls. I started visiting more often and I will always remember our talks. RIP Dellie.
