Mary Devroy Obituary

Mary Frances Devroy

November 20, 1929 - February 12, 2025

The world got a little more bland, losing such a wonderful and colorful personality on the eve of Wednesday, February 12, 2025. That evening, Mary Frances Devroy moved peacefully to her new heavenly home to be with her loving husband, Earl, her parents, siblings and other family and friends.

Mary was born in Mellen, Wis. to Paulina and Peter Padjen and was the second of six children. As a daughter of Croatian immigrants, she grew up in a loving home where both Croatian and English were spoken. She attended Mellen Public Schools, and after high school moved to Green Bay, where she lived the rest of her life. It was there that she met the love of her life, Earl Devroy, whom she married in September 1951. Mary and Earl together raised their two daughters, Paula and Patrice. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker and kept a meticulous home and garden. Her life was filled with her strong Catholic faith, family time, coffee klatches with friends, fun playing cards & Bingo, trips to Mellen, watching sporting events and exercise. She was playing shuffleboard when she broke a rib a month ago.

Mary had a huge heart and a very generous spirit. She was truly one of a kind as attested by many and brought joy and good laughs wherever she went. She had a very close and special relationship with her only grandchild Tony, who was the light of her life. She adored him as he her and showered him with her love.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula Devroy Everard (Jay Everard) and her daughter, Patrice Devroy Commo (Pat Commo) and her loving angel grandson, Tony Everard. She's also survived by her brother, Fred Padjen and sister, Agnes Pembroke as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands, Annie (Kenny) Hangartner, Frances (Warren) Laneville; brother, Johnny Padjen; and nephew, Roger Hangartner.

Please join us in celebrating the life of this wonderful woman at Saint Agnes Catholic Church on Friday, February 21. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Abbot Dane Radecki officiating. Interment will be in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
