Alan DeVault Obituary
Suddenly, on Sunday, July 24, 2022, Alan Lane DeVault passed away at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Youngstown on January 28, 1953, to Donald Lee DeVault and Della June (Banfield) Bernat.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Kay (Johnson) DeVault of Boardman; his dear children, Kristin (Michael) King of Howland, Michael (Lisa) Jurus of Boardman, Alan DeVault of Canfield, Nicole (Michael) Malleske and, Emily (James) Paris all of Boardman; grandchildren, Maxwell, Logan, Morgan, Michael, Laci, Alan Jr, Aleah-Marie, and Jayla; brother, Duane DeVault of Canfield and his faithful companion and best buddy and dog, London.
Alan grew up on the west side of Youngstown, graduated from Chaney High School in 1972 and went on to complete a two-year college course to become an EMT/Paramedic. He used those skills working for the Youngstown Fire Department. Later Alan was a car inspector for P&LE Railroad and for many years worked in the construction field. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed "Bassmaster," boxing and the UFC. Alan's hobbies included fishing at his son, Alan's house, watching Netflix, going to car shows, binge watching any show selling knives, collecting muscle cars in his younger days, building muscle cars models, and his dog, London.
Alan was known to be happy, friendly, faithful, patient, kind, and very generous to the extent of being a "give you the shirt off his back" kind of man, one of his best traits was just being silly.
Some of the DeVault family favorite memories include car shows at A&W in Boardman, yearly family trips to Geauga Laker, family birthdays parties and dinner at Molly's in Youngstown.
Alan would be most proud that he is known as "Papa Al" by his grandchildren and the inseparable bound his had with his Chihuahua, London. She will be so lost without him.
