Douglas GRAY Obituary
Douglas T. Gray Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend and servant of the Lord, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born and raised in Campbell, Ohio, Doug was a proud lifelong resident whose roots ran deep in the community he loved so dearly. A gifted athlete, he rose to local stardom as a football standout at Youngstown State University, earning not just accolades but lifelong friendships and respect.
After college, Doug dedicated his professional life to Ohio Edison, where he built a long and respected career as a skilled engineer. Known for his meticulous mind and tireless work ethic, Doug's contributions left a lasting impact not only on the company but also on the many colleagues he met or mentored along the way.
Above all, Doug was a family man, deeply devoted to his late wife of over 40 years, Charlotte Gray. Together, their love became a living testimony of faith, strength, and commitment. Their union was blessed with two sons, Douglas Gray II (Kami Gray) and Eric Gray (Rayuana Gray), who carry forward their father's legacy of faith, hard work, and love.
Doug was a proud and joyful grandfather to Glenn, Melina, Vincent, Camrhen, and Rayah Gray-his "greatest treasures," as he often called them. He taught them to walk in faith, live with purpose, and always lead with love.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Frances Gray, and reunited in heaven with his cherished wife, Charlotte. He leaves behind his brother Bruce Gray (Yvonne Gray), a host of family and lifelong friends who were each touched by his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith.
A pillar of Gospel Temple Baptist Church, founded by his beloved grandparents Rev. Willie and Fannie Gray, Doug was more than a member-he was a leader, a mentor, and a humble deacon. Though he held many titles, he was proudest to be called a "servant of the Lord." Each morning began in prayer, and his favorite scripture echoed through his life: "Not my will, Lord, but Yours."
Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply his presence, Doug touched countless lives. He showed us how to live with grace, serve with humility, and love without condition. His legacy is not only in the family he leaves behind but in the faith he inspired in others.
As we say goodbye, we do so with hope, knowing Doug's journey continues in the presence of the Savior he so deeply loved. Well done, good and faithful servant.
