Christopher Gerry Obituary

Christopher "Wuzp" Gerry
1979 - 2016
WATERVILLE - Christopher "Baby Jesus," "Wuzp" Gerry, 37, of Waterville, gained his angel wings unexpectedly on his birthday, August 12, 2016, from a heroin overdose. "Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not."
Chris was born in Waterville. He attended school in Waterville and Oakland. He graduated from Messalonskee High School. To know him was to love him.
Chris was self-employed in agriculture. His company was Northeast Caregivers. He excelled with this business. It was his passion. He also bred bull terriers for many years. Maggie (his own bull terrier) was his best friend and companion, and the real apple of his eye. He was a 90 percent animal lover, and a 10 percent people lover.
Chris was a hippie with a caring and free spirit who never liked to wear shoes, and always referred to them as foot cages. He had a passion for going to concerts and festivals. You could catch him with a joint in his mouth and a beer and OJ in his hand. He loved music, especially The Grateful Dead, and Phish. He was a man of few words, but if you knew him well enough he could be quite the story teller. He was so funny and animated when he was telling his stories.
Chris had a contagious smile that could light up a room. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back, and always there to help a friend. He had a laid back personality, and he never judged anyone for their appearance or failure to meet society's standards. Chris was like "The Baby Whisperer" and always had a way with kids. Maybe it's because he was like a big kid himself. They always loved him so much.
Chris was predeceased by his father, Charlie Lewis, and both sets of grandparents, Richard Goldrup, Ida Goldrup, Donald "Whitey" Maheu, and Joan Maheu. Nanny was his special angel, and best friend throughout the years, and we can find comfort in knowing that they are together again.
Chris was survived by his loving mother, Vickie Goldrup and fiancé Ray Jacques; stepdad, Randy Goldrup and girlfriend Terri Maxwell; his sister, Erika Curtis, husband Frank Curtis, and kids Deandray Curtis, Deontae McMillion, and Deja Curtis; his longtime girlfriend, Randi Burns; his grandfather, Richard Gerry and wife Joyce Gerry; his aunts and uncles, Louis and Lisa Coleman, Craig and Bonnie Goldrup, Scott and Kathy Moores, Brent and Shawn Brooks, Roxanne Lizzotte, Timmy and Bo Farris, Ronnie and Alan Farris, Tina Vickery, Donna Boutin, and Jeanne Wynne; many cousins, Leticia Coleman, Alecia Coleman, Savanah Coleman, Jeremy Goldrup, Jesse Goldrup, Jay Goldrup, Brian Moores, and Kimberly French; and special friends, Dan Goodale, Alan Kitchin, Jim Goodale, and Ghe Grip.
He also is survived by his two children, Isaiah Cole (mother Heidy Mullen), and Kyla Gallant (mother Jena Gallant). His children gave him a great amount of pride, and accomplishment. They established an everlasting bond in such a short amount of time. Nothing brought him more joy than his kids.
Let's not let his death be in vain. If you or someone you love is addicted to heroin, please say something or ask for help. Let Chris be an inspiration to tell your loved ones you need them, and love them. Take control of your life.
Christopher's Celebration of Life will be this Saturday, August 20, from 2-6 p.m. at the Waterville VFW. Please join us to share memories, stories, smiles, and hugs! Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan & Scott's Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Rd., Skowhegan.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My nephew passed away last year from a heroine overdose and my family wasn't ashamed to include that in his obit. I was touched by the honesty in this obit. As you mentioned, Christopher didn't judge, so neither should we. The fact is, the world has lost another good soul to drug addiction. No shame, addiction is a disease. My sister runs a support group for families affected by drug addiction. It was her son who passed away. The support group is based out of Skowhegan, just in case you're looking for support. My heart breaks for you and your family, may he rest in peace.

No more days of pain just eternal peace.

UNBRIDLED VOICE

My unbridled voice is spent in a pleasant ramble with God, soft sprinkles of dew and misted cheeks. Sweet tears of joy while he searches my heart. A shower of goodness falls around, now I taste a fruitful harvest.
A mordant cry longs my soul; the evil one has bid against me. Tragedy longed to destroy each blessing. Yet I broke the Devils grip; my unbridled voice in song.
