He was born in Lewistown, Pa., on May 19, 1924, the son of Colbert and Marion (Troutman) Marshall.
Eugene served his country as a sergeant in the 776th A.W. Battalion B Battery from March 17, 1943, to Nov. 30, 1945. He was with Gen. Patton during his march to Bastonge to relieve trapped American forces at the Battle of the Bulge. He received five major battle stars. He was a life member of the Winslow Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked at Scott Paper Co. in Winslow as a papermaker for 42 years and was vice president of Local 911.
Eugene was a communicant of Corpus Christie Parish. He was known for his green thumb, his window boxes, flowers and well-manicured lawns that were always beautiful. He loved to go fishing with his friends, Don and Bob, to catch white perch whenever they could. He and his wife enjoyed taking trips to the coast of Maine and to the mountains. He always looked forward to his reunions with his war-time buddies.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Jacqueline Fisher Marshall; three sons, Eugene R. Marshall and his wife, Dorothy, of Belgrade, Timothy L. Marshall and his wife, Cori, of Gold Hill, Ore., and Jeffrey L. Marshall and his wife, Sandi, of Shawmut; a brother, Richard Marshall, of Lucas, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. His desire was to see five generations and was able to achieve that goal.
