Patricia Gagne Obituary

Patricia (Cummings) Gagne
1932 - 2016
AUGUSTA - Patricia (Cummings) Gagne, 84, of Augusta, died peacefully on Oct. 26, 2016, with her family by her side. Patsy was born on July 18, 1932, to Fred and Lillian (LeClair) Cummings who, together, instilled in their little girl a strong sense of family.
Patsy was educated in Augusta schools, graduating a member of Cony High School class of '52. How she loved getting together with her school friends and enjoyed going out to lunch with them until failing health caused her to stop.
On Sept.12, 1953, Patsy married Marcel "Mike" Gagne with whom she raised their four children. Whether we knew her as Mom, Memere, Patsy or Pat, we knew her to have a gentle soul, "mothering" everyone she encountered. She worked outside the home all her adult life, finally retiring just two weeks prior to her 80th birthday, and after spending nearly 30 years with the Maine Motor Transport Association.
Post-retirement, Patsy's family became her world even more than before. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her joys also included living in the Belgrade area for many years, having moved there from Augusta in 1983. She was often seen outside her Belgrade home, mowing the lawn along Route 27, an activity greatly missed once she moved back to Augusta.
Patsy was a communicant of St. Michael Parish, Augusta, and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society.
She is predeceased by her husband, Mike; her parents, Fred and Lillian; her brother, Fred "Al" Jr., her sister, Therese, and five siblings, all of whom died in infancy.
She leaves behind those she loved most dear, her four children: son, Michael and his wife Deborah of Augusta, three daughters: Kathleen "Kathy" and her husband Amos Alley of China, Karen and her husband Thomas Johnson of East Winthrop, and Nicolle "Nicky" and her husband Brian Wight of Belgrade. Additionally she is missed greatly by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: grandsons Mitchell, and Cameron Wight of Belgrade, grandson and granddaughter, Isaac and Allison Johnson of East Winthrop, granddaughters Amanda MacIsaac of Grove City, Pa. and Jennie Sanderson of Boston, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Andrew MacIsaac of Grove City, Pa. and Brodie Sanderson of Boston, Mass. She is also missed by her sister-in-law and card playing partner, Claire Poulin, as well as her very best friend, Mary Tarbox.
Visitors are welcome from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 30 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society will meet at 3 p.m. for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday Oct 31 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester.
