Charles (Charlie) R. Pallang, 75
WESTBROOK - Charles (Charlie) R. Pallang died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a series of strokes, on Sept. 20, 2017
He was born Dec. 31, 1941 in Bridgeport, Conn. to Alexander and Florence (Swazey) Pallang. He moved to Maine as a small child attending Portland area schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1960.
On Aug. 4, 1962, he married Geraldine (Gerrie) Beckwith. They were blessed with their son, Robert and grandson, Erik.
He was a machinist/valve rebuilder for Mequire Jones and Knowlton Machine/ Maine Valve.
He travelled all over New England with his work and loved it. Charlie was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Kiwanis and Italian Heritage Clubs. He was a member of Westbrook Warren Congregational Church, where he enjoyed working on the Bean Suppers and going to Friend's Club and Community Meals.
He loved Mustangs and belonged to the Mustang 'Then and Now' Club with his red 1966 Mustang. He enjoyed coin collecting and loved travelling to Mexico, Florida and Connecticut. In his younger years, Charlie was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother Al and wife Margaret; mother-in-law Frances and husband Richard Moore. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Gerrie; his son, Robert; and grandson, Erik. They were the center of his life. He also leaves his siblings, Rodney Pallang, Algetha and husband James McDonald, Marydonna Uska and partner John Wadwell, brother-in-law Donald Beckwith and wife Gail Williams, brother-in-law Scott and wife Marta (Prorok) Beckwith, sister-in-law Candice (Moore) and husband Norbert Wilson, and brother-in-law Michael Moore. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, whom he deeply loved.
The family would like to thank Maine Medical Center, New England Rehabilitation, Kindred At Home and Hospice of Southern Maine for their care of Charlie.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at
A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home
, 660 Brighton Ave. and a celebration of life will be held at Westbrook Warren Congregational Church UCC on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m., with reception following at the church.

Dear Gerrie,
I was so sad to hear of Charlie's passing. I still have a snapshot picture in my mind and the dress I wore as a flower girl in your wedding. I pray you find comfort in a life well-lived and surrounded by loving family and friends. May he rest in peace.
