Redmond
FREDERICTON, N.B. Canada -- Malcolm Abbott Redmond passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 5, 2008, in Fredericton, N.B. Canada.
Born in New Gloucester, on Sept. 15, 1932, he attended South Portland Schools and the University of Maine. He entered the United States Navy in 1951 to 1959. He was predeceased in 2002 by his loving wife, Goldie Marie Palmer
Most of Mal's career life was devoted to management and conservation of fish, as a Fisheries Biologist. He started in Orono in the Department of Inland Fisheries and Game. In 1968, he accepted a position with the Department of Natural Resources in Fredericton, N.B., in the Fish and Wildlife Branch, until his retirement in 1992. Mal gained pleasure and recognition as a salmon conservationist, fly tier and wood carver of fish, ducks and shore birds.
Mal is survived by his daughter, Lynn Goguen (Ben) of Fredericton, N.B.; his oldest brother, Russell (Elinor) of Dallas, Texas; 13 nieces and nephews; as well as special friend, Joyce Hines of Zephyrhills, Fla. Besides his parents, Phil E. and Gladys Russell, he is predeceased by his brothers, Phil E. Bud, Paul and Richard Perry; and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Yolanda.
Mal's final resting place will be in Hanover Cemetery with a Military graveside service on Aug. 2, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., and a celebration of life to follow. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
