Marie-Anne Favreau Obituary

Marie-Anne L. Favreau, 66 BATH -- Marie-Anne L. Favreau, 66, of High Street, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at her home with her children by her side after a courageous four year battle with peritoneal cancer. She was born in Brunswick on Sept. 7, 1943, the daughter of Mary Morin Racine and the late Gerard Racine. She attended St. John's School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1961. She attended the former Gorham State Teachers College and graduated from Richer College in Houlton in 1965. In the years following college, she married and had six children. She lived with her family in Brunswick and Auburn, and finally settled in Bath in 1976. She was a homemaker and stayed at home for many years to raise her children and later to take care of several of her grandchildren. She was a dedicated sports mom and attended as many of her children's sporting events that she could. She volunteered at her children's schools and always loved making baked goods for all of the school parties. After her children were grown, she worked for three years as a baker at Kristina's Restaurant in Bath. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed participating in local fairs. She was a talented baker and won several awards for her cookie decorating. She derived great joy from making and decorating cookies for every occasion and holiday for her 12 grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, and collecting snowmen. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Whether she was bragging about their athletic ability, their musical ability, or how smart or cute they were, she always pulled out her pocket photo album to show off her pictures to everybody she knew. She loved traveling to Topsham, Massachusetts, Missouri and Vermont to spend time with the children and grandchildren. Recently, she was happy to attend her class reunions for St. John's and Brunswick High School and to see some of her old classmates. She enjoyed lunches and visits with her mother and sister and especially shopping trips, KFC, and attending plays at the Maine State Music Theater with her cousin. She is survived by her six children, Deborah Nadeau and her husband Ross of Topsham, Daniel Favreau of Arlington, Vt., Suzie Regan and her husband Tom of North Andover, Mass., Gail Favreau of Boston, Mass., Mike Favreau and his partner Sean Clinefelter Grain Valley, Mo., and Sally Finnimore and her husband Jon of North Andover; 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Julia, Danny, Lindsey, Paul, John, Tommy, Amanda, Kaleigh, Brendan, Drew and Adam; her mother, Mary Morin Racine of Bath; sister Agnes Parker and her husband Harold of Bath, brother Gerard Racine; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 4-7 p.m., where a celebration of her life will take place on Friday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. A gathering of friends and family will follow at The Parkwood Inn, 71 Gurnet Rd., Cooks Corner. Condolences may be expressed at www.stetsonsfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: CHANS Home Hospice 60 Baribeau Drive Brunswick, Maine 04011
