Nancy Stockbridge-Kast Obituary

Nancy G. Stockbridge-Kast, 80
NEWFIELDS - Nancy G. Stockbridge-Kast, 80, formerly of Exeter, died on Saturday, July 25, 2015, after a sudden illness, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was born on Oct. 17, 1934, in Rochester, N.H., the daughter of the late Doris M. Goodwin Vezeau and William E. Gilmore.
She lived in Exeter for most of her life and graduated from Robinson Female Seminary. She was looking forward to attending her class reunion on Aug. 8. She formerly owned and operated Charlotte's Web yarn shop in Exeter, she loved to knit and sew, cook and travel the country with her sweetie pie Hank. They travelled through all 50 states, did sky diving, zipp lining and bungie jumping.
She summered in New Hampshire and wintered in Florida for the past 24 years, attending rallies, yard sales and flee markets and, oh yes, she did like to stop at all the yarn shops across the country.
The Stockbridge-Kast family are very grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided by Kirkwood Corners and their staff of Lee, the Portsmouth Regional Emergency doctors and nurses, palliative care team and Rockingham VNA/Hospice.
Family members include her husband of 36 years, Henry "Hank" Kast; her children, Donna McBride of Exeter, Douglas R. Stockbridge of Kennebunk, Daniel B. Stockbridge of Exeter, and David W. Stockbridge of Somersworth; her sister, Elizabeth J. Tozier of Brookfield, and her brother, William E. Gilmore, Jr. of Rye, her sister-in-law Virginia Gilmore of Exeter; her stepchildren, Hans Kast of Texas, Grethchen Kast of Newmarket, and Becky Hecox of Salem; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and her cats, Abagail and Garfunkel. She was predeceased by her mother, her brother, John E. Gilmore, her niece, Robin Tozier-Young and her Aunt Orel Wetherell.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Rd., Exeter. A Celebration of her life will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Fowler Mills Cemetery, Wonalancet, N.H. Family flowers only.
