Bob Fry Obituary

Bob Fry, age 83, died peacefully on August 4. Pat, his wife of 50 years, was by his side. Bob lived in Pawlet from 1987-2019. Bob found a rewarding career at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, where he adored his colleagues and the arts community. He was a regular cast member with the Marble Valley Players, Dorset Players, and the Fort Salem Theater. Pat never missed a production. His daughter Sara most enjoyed seeing him perform in Oklahoma and Man of La Mancha. He also sang regularly at nursing homes in Southern Vermont. Bob and Pat moved to Idaho in 2019 to be closer to Sara and not have the upkeep of a rural home on 13 acres - especially in snowy winters. Bob lived a life filled with love and contribution.

Bob was a childhood friend of mine growing up in NYC (Trinity School) and at Camp Adirondack. As an adult, I visited with him and his wife Pat in Vermont.

Bob's knowledge of music and musical history, as well as the entertainment business, generally, was vast; he taught me a lot. I am hoping he is now enjoying his favorite vocalist. Audra MacDonald, as much as he would like.

I would fondly tease Bob that he was the only person I knew that actually DID have lunch with Joe Franklin (during Bob's time as a theatrical manager in NYC).

Dear Sarah and Pat, it is with great sadness to hear of Bob's passing. We always enjoyed seeing Bob in town. He always had a twinkle in his eye and something joyful to say. Thinking of you both. Judy and Carson Lake
