Bernard Starline Wise

1927 - 2014

Bernard Starline Wise Jan. 4, 1927 - Oct. 1, 2014 "Beany" Wise passed away peacefully at Marin General Hospital on October 1, 2014, at the age of 87, due to congestive heart failure. He was born in Lima, Ohio and attended three different high schools in Ohio, lettering in both baseball and football. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1948. In 1952, he moved to California until his demise. Beany was a loyal and strong union man, working over 40 years out of the Local 38 Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union. He worked at Dill and Sederberg and finished his career working, for the City and County of San Francisco, at Laguna Honda Hospital, prior to retiring. He was a member of the Elks Club #1108 for 50 years, the San Rafael SIRS #151, the San Rafael Goldenaires and Post #1079 of the American Legion. Beany lived his life "with his glass half full." He had a wonderful sense of humor, a great personality and was blessed with many friends. Beany was happiest when he was with his family, watching his sports and westerns and winning at the casinos. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve and wife, Barbara. Barbara and Beany felt so lucky to have found each other and shared 40 years of love and happiness. Beany was very proud of his family. He is survived by his son, Robert Wise (Lesley) and daughter, Gail Piro (Jerry) and six grandchildren, Steve, Marc, Pamela, Lisa, Olivia and Jenna. He was a loving father and Papa to all. Although he will be deeply missed, our hearts are warmed by the fact he is together again with his wife, Barbara. We will all love you forever Papa Beany. A celebration of his life will be held on January 4, 2015 (which would have been his 88th birthday) at 12:00 noon at the San Rafael Elks Lodge, 1312 Mission Ave, San Rafael, 94901.
