Indrojit Singh Obituary

Dr. Indrojit Singh (Jit) It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Indrojit Singh (Jit) announce his sudden passing on September 13th, 2018. He was born in Greenbrae, California in 1954 to Dr. Surjit and Mrs. Indira Singh (predeceased) and was raised in San Anselmo and Sleepy Hollow followed by a move to San Rafael where he enjoyed living for many years. In Jit's early years he excelled in sports from Midget League to Varsity Baseball and became MVP "C's" Basketball to Varsity Basketball at Sir Francis Drake High School. After graduating from U.C. Davis with a B.A. in 1976, he went on to the California School of Professional Psychology in Berkeley receiving a M.A. in 1978 and a Ph.D. in 1982. He was the Clinical Director of the Marin Treatment Center from 1984-1986 followed by his private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in San Francisco and Corte Madera. Jit lived for the outdoors and spent much time at Drakesbad in Mt. Lassen National Park, Goleta, Santa Barbara County, Oregon and Sayulita, Mexico. He travelled all over the world and eventually wanted to retire in Mexico. Jit was outgoing and a friend to so many different kinds of people. At an early age he showed his compassion for others and was always trying to help the downtrodden. He was an avid sports fan, loved to cook, was a sensational host and was the grill master at family get togethers. He was the life of the party. He appreciated his time with his neighbors in San Rafael and was nicknamed the "mayor" of the neighborhood. Jit deeply cared for his many friends, colleagues, clients and family including his "2 sons", dogs Luke and Kohl Wick Singh (predeceased). Jit is greatly missed by his sisters, Smita Singh Durando (John) and Rita Singh Roberts (Randy) and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in India. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 10th, 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 72 Kensington Rd., San Anselmo followed by an Interment of Ashes at the Memorial Garden and Reception at Duncan Hall next door.

I was Jit´s bookkeeper for many years and we became good friends during that time. We shared lots of good laughs. There were times where we didn´t see each other for years at a time but when we did connect it was as if no time has passed and we´d pick up right where we left off. I feel heartsick about his passing and send my love to a deeply caring, sensitive, and loyal friend.

I had been thinking of connecting with Dr. Singh again recently, and am saddened to discover his passing several years ago. Dr. Singh helped me navigate the most traumatic episode of my life and I wanted to update him so he could see how well I'm doing today. I never got to check in with him or thank him after losing coverage when employers only offered Kaiser. He will be remembered fondly.

Shocked and saddened to learn of JIt passing away. He was like a big brother to me, willing to give advice, share life experiences and provide comfort and support to anyone.

I am very shocked and sad to hear about this. Jit was a great all around guy. Very mature, studious and goal oriented.
Man was he a fast runner. Something like 5.1 seconds in the 50 yard dash..just amazing.
RIP Jit, you were a very special guy.

Both my husband I I were long time patients of JIt's. Over 10 years of building a relationship with Jit, he became like a 2nd father to my husband and I. My husband and I would often say we can't live our lives without Jit because he has been so instrumental in shaping us to be healthy, grounded human begins. My heart aches immensely. Sadly, I only found out about his passing last week when I tried calling him and found his phone number disconnected. I googled his name and came across this obituary. I'm sad I did not get to say good bye, thank you and we love you. I pray deeply for his soul. You will always be in our hearts Jit.

If anyone has a more current photo of Jit, I would greatly appreciate a digital copy. I can be reached ay 916-396-2704.

Blessings,
Shereen

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Jit. Always enjoyed running into him at our local watering hole where we shared many conversations from quantum physics to what was the best way to cook a steak. He would also be a guy that would lend an ear and share his thoughts if you were in need of someone to talk to. He will be missed.

Jit and my husband Jerry Sanchez were roommates for 3 years while they attended UC Davis. We were honored to have Jit as one of our groomsmen in our wedding in1984. We will miss him and he will always be in our hearts❤.

Jit was a fiend at Matteucci's. I was newly married. I confessed I had not gotten a Valentine's Day gift. Jit gave me a great slap(figuratively) about my boorish behavior. He castigated me without mercy. Since then I always try to do something special for my wife on Valentine's Day. We have been married more than 30 years. Jit had an insight for doing the right thing. And he shared it with me that day in no uncertain terms.

I was very fortunate to make it past Jit's screening on me during my first meeting him, as I mispronounced his name and called him Jeep. :0! That was about 30 years ago. My husband has had the pleasure of knowing him for the last 15. Our love for him runs deep and we will treasure all the good times, fun, laughter, football watching, and great bbq's and other events forever.

So sad for his family. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

Ran into Jit over the past few months after no contact since high school. Had quite a few conversations with him. Good guy. Lots to say. Man that little guy could run fast. Too soon. Way too soon.

So sorry to hear this - my sincerest condolences to the family. Jit took me to Warriors games (back when they never won) and we had many fun dates together - handsome, charming, and the quintessential gentleman.

We all grew up together in the late 50's/early 60's on the SFTS campus in San Anselmo. Our parents were dear friends and colleagues. Jit was our "little brother" and through our two dogs' procreation antics, we became in-laws, of sorts! What fine memories of such a lovely friend. My heart goes out to Rita and Smita and all who knew him.
